Would you care if bungie made an emblem in solidarity with veterans or police?
As a conservative I do get bugged by what I perceive as "wokeness", but I also know that the lives, identities, and struggles of marginal groups are real and worth caring for. Its just an emblem for those who support what it stands for. And bungie foundation proceeds go towards helping people in these communities, so all in all I dont see what the big deal is.

Edited by Twin: 12/9/2021 6:06:38 PMThere could be two ways to comprise amid the controversy. Either give support to the people who deserve it or not include any of it! Which is probably what most people would agree with. But I’m very grateful for Bungie when they donated to St. judes

I'm in support of the transgender community and veterans, police, etc. I would prefer none of it to shoved down my throat by video games, movies, TV shows, social media, big tech or anyone else for that matter. Is that OK? Weird that some folks (on both sides) insist on being as crazy and radical as they can. Is this just an attention thing? Like, do people need to feel relevant that badly? Is there a box I can check somewhere that says, "Yes, I'm a good person" and then opt out somehow?
-
a splash screen is shoving it down your throat? I know that has just become a popular phrase, but splash screens aren't that bad. shoving it down your throat would be something like being forced to watch or partake in some sort of advocacy campaign, or being bombarded with ads from all media outlets and platforms all day everyday.
-
A splash screen is not shoving it down your throat. It's the constant reminder in every single video game, every single tv episode, every single movie, every single news article, every single big tech post, every single Google Doodle, every single report, every single day, all day. We get it. Everyone is a victim.
-
Except non of those are actually the case now are they. I get that you’re heavily over exaggerating to make a point but it Seems like you’re playing the victim, “I can’t go anywhere or do anything with out a social agenda being shoved down my throat 😭” Yes you can, you’ll be fine.
-
Buuuuuuut it is the case. There's not enough room on the Internet for me to link you all of the examples from like the the past 30 minutes let alone the past day or week. ...and please don't be confused with people who are just sick and tired of crazy/radical nonsense with "victimhood" or "phobias". We're on to that little game as well LOL. We... just... don't... care... anymore. Think about that for a minute. True progressives like me are completely and utterly disgusted with this gross nonsense.
-
It’s not crazy or radical to acknowledge and or celebrate the existence of trans people, nor is it crazy or radical to point out the inequality and police brutality perpetuated against black communities. Being progressive doesn’t mean simply tolerating minority groups, it means supporting and lifting up marginalized groups because if oppression is tolerated one day you will be the one being oppressed and no one will be left to speak up for you.
-
I 100% agree with you about acknowledging and celebrating *everyone and supporting and lifting up marginalized groups. 100% agree. I'm on board. I'll buy the first ticket. But that's not really what's happening is it? Nobody, and I mean nobody comes to a video game to listen to a sermon about this stuff. Not even the people who pretend to. Especially a video game that glorifies war and violence LOL. Same goes for movies, TV, big tech. We're sick and tired of the victim olypmics.
-
It’s a splash screen you can close out of right away, so not exactly a sermon. I really don’t see any agendas or groups being shoved down anyones throat. No one is being forced to do anything. If seeing something in a video game even once and even if only for a second is too much for you, then I really don’t know what to tell you.

It's funny that we completely agree on these issues but disagree how to address them. Like... I believe in climate change 100%. But I don't agree that giving more money to the government is going to do anything at all to solve it. Not after over 40+ years of "research" with absolutely no oversight, no accountability and most importantly... NO results. PS: We were told in 2014 that the world was ending in 5 years if we didn't pay more taxes. It's 2021, I live less than an hour from the ocean. We're still here. Same with the issue that you raise about police brutality in "black communities". Again, cities like Chicago have been consistently electing the exact same people since the 1930's (look it up) and are wondering why after over NINETY YEARS the situation is getting worse, not better. But again the solution isn't a video game banner or a logo or a 20 minute sermon on every TV show, Movie, and Google Doodle... and the solution certainly isn't teaching children from the time they're born that they're either a victim or an oppressor (how's that been working?) The solution is to say enough is enough and that's why you're seeing this thread. The world needs unity and not division. You don't choose to have transgender day INSTEAD OF veterans day by accident. Inclusion means that you INCLUDE everyone. You can celebrate both. You can include both. If you don't then *you're the problem here.
-
I guess we tangentially agree on the issues but I haven't really heard how you feel best to address them other than not wanting to see the issues brought up in any form of media which isn't addressing the issues at all, it is ignoring them and hoping they will solve themselves. Is that how you want to address climate change as well? saying enough is enough isn't a solution, it's what angry people say before doing something rash.
-
Saying enough is enough is part of the solution. I'll stick with climate change because you're mentioning it above. When I say, "enough is enough" I'm referring to the current trend of constantly preaching and dividing and shaming as if that's actually going to solve anything. It doesn't. It's not even a debate. It's been over 40+ years and we are still presented with the same, or worse "science" that tells us we need to give money to the government to solve this problem. How much money has gone towards "research" for alternative fuel vehicles? Hydrogen fuel cells? Corn based fuel (come on)? I'll wait.... OK. Now, how many production vehicles are on the road right now as a result of that? How many models does GM/Toyota/Mitsubishi/BMW/Anyone make with HFCs? How many with corn fuel? So for alllllllllllll the money we spent there isn't one? Not one production HFC vehicle? Nothing? Nobody? Fast forward to 2006 when Elon Musk published his "Secret Telsa Motor Master Plan" (look it up) where he invested (GASP) HIS OWN MONEY into the private sector. Since that time he's produced the Roadster (2008), the Model S, the Model X, the Model 3 and the Model Y. Literally hundreds of thousands of production vehicles out there all over the world thanks to the FREE market. PS: He invested between $60 to $80 million dollars of his own money. The government spent literally billions upon billions of dollars with ZERO oversight, ZERO accountability and ZERO results. I paid more for my Model X than my parents did for the house I grew up in... and you can fact check that all day long. So yes, we 100% agree on the issues. We just don't agree with the solutions :D
-
The science (it doesn't need to be in quotes, especially if you accept that climate change is real) doesn't tell us to give money to the government. You are just projecting and grossly oversimplifying this. The science tells us we need to stop polluting our environments, recycle more (most plastics can't be recycled), reduce carbon emissions, and prepare for the inevitable because we are already past the point of no return. Tesla became a success because Musk was born lucky and had millions to invest in the technology and company, the fossil fuel industry has been lobbying the government for decades to stifle the electric car industry because they know it would hurt their bottom line if they became the majority on the road. the problem with climate change isn't that the government wants a bunch of money to then waste it, it is private corporations that are incentivized in maintaining the status quo because it is cheaper to keep using fossil fuels rather than innovate. the government also wasted 1 Trillion dollars on 1 jet that still doesn't work. by the way you talk about these things it makes me think you are a libertarian.
-
The car industry was worried about their bottom line? LOL. You realize that Elon Musk is worth over $200 BILLION right now? Right? Again, we disagree on the solution to these problems, if that makes me a Libertarian then OK. Label it any way you want. How many Al Gore cars are out there? I'll wait. The "science" needs big giant quotes when guys like Al Gore get in front of cameras and tell us that the world is ending in five years and then asks for money. The scientific process requires waaaaaaaaaaay more scrutiny than a report generated by someone for the people funding their "research". Again, if there was any oversight, any accountability or any results whatsoever then I'm on board. But spending billions and billions of dollar and billions of dollars on telling people to recycle more isn't the answer. PS: I'm the wrong guy to argue with about military spending. If it was me there would be 0 foreign aid and the military budget would be a fraction of what it is today. This isn't the Cold War. We don't need bases in every country, we don't need to outfit every ally and enemy of our enemy with weapons and we don't need to be the police for every corner of the planet. Again... enough is enough.
-
well we agree more on military spending. the science and research has been in on climate change for around 100 years now. it is real, it is negatively affecting us and it is largely man made. It would take a world wide effort to prepare for the consequences and yes that would involve the government, but I think we both agree the US government is highly corrupt and ineffective when it comes to this issue. Recycling is a big part in the solution and when I say that I mean we need new innovations in how and what we can recycle. That was also just one of many things we would need to do. and yeah I know Musk is too rich, and Al Gore didn't make cars because that's not his area of expertise. he was warning people of climate change and advocating for us to do something about it, not researching how to build and manufacture electric cars.

You don’t sound conservative…. We can see you from a mile away. “Marginalized communities” lol red flag.
-
"Conservative" doesn't have to mean "bigoted".
-
ah the old "No true Scotsman" fallacy. well you do sound like a conservative so good for you.
-
Some conservatives have morals
-
Keep conforming to the mold the powers that be have forced your mind into. Right or Left, they are just two sides of the same coin, two halves of the social shape that the powerful use to maintain their power. You can't be a good liberal without conservatives to hate, and you can't be a good conservative without liberals to loath.

Once a troll, always a troll. But I can be a wise troll once in awhile 😉

I can clearly see that now
