its pretty simple, war is a sensitive and divisive subject. celebrating the veterans of one country can be disrespectful to people from the country on the opposing side. imagine a scenario where bungie celebrated US Veteran's day with a splash screen and a number of people see it who had loved ones killed by Americans in war, they wouldn't be so happy to see that splash screen would they. And vice versa, if you had a loved one killed in a war would you want to see a splash screen celebrating the veterans of that country?

  • A fair and valid point. Very well articulated too. While I agree its a sensitive subject that would need to be handled with care internationally, something like a splash screen on login would be entirely inappropriate especially if it was one sided. Yet there should be some room for being able to recognize on all sides that veterans exist and many do struggle with various forms of disabilities. The truth is, no matter what the company does, it'll piss someone off somehow. Thread OPs post is an example. Doesnt have anything to do with them, but still mad about it. I'm just saying, in terms of acknowledging that there is a group out there and Bungie is actively choosing to exclude them, which feels wrong. I may be biased because I belong to that group, but it does feel bad that the company makes that decision.

  • you're right, no matter what they do, or in this case don't do, someone will be upset by it. if they were to have celebrated all veterans from all across the world many people would still be upset by it. im sure someone would say, "this is US Veterans Day, not global Veterans Day".

  • In some countries it's called Remembrance Day or Poppy Day but it's still the same concept of veteran recognition/appreciation and it falls on the same day as US Veterans Day.
