I can give my own insight here. Just about every time there’s a not straight couple in a game, we have a lot of people come out and say “keep politics out of games.” I’ve tried to discuss this point with people, and how just having these things around isn’t political. Having straight and not straight couples should just be meh to people. Same with transgender people. To be told that what you are, is “political,” is a pretty uncomfortable thing to hear. Like it really just feels like stereotyping? To be not straight or transgender is immediately assumed to be some liberal LGBT secret agenda to take over the world. Also, I’m using the term not straight, because in quite a lot of places actually using the term for what I am can get you banned 🤷
