Removing Paid Content?

I’m not sure I understand this one. Why would you take away something that the Destiny 2 players paid for? Are you going to issue partial refund to those players? I understand about making room for The Witch Queen…. But that ethically seems a little odd for Bungie to do. Doesn’t matter if that’s content someone doesn’t play anymore. It’s paid for. I hope you have some way of paying that back to the D2 community.

 • Its certainly not ideal, and if Bungie had any other way forwards I'm sure they'd have taken it. As it is, we're here now, a continuous game on an engine that wasnt designed for that. If you ask me, I think this situtation stems right back to the early design upheaval between Bungie and Activision. Remember when they spoke about a 10 year plan and taking your characters and gear forwards throughout the game.... sounds continuous right? Then along comes Activision and start pushing for a release architecture that resembles all their other franchises - sequels. What cements my suspicions on this is that as soon as Bungie split from Activision, they drop the "2" from the games name and we're on a continuous DLC schedule. I suspect that if that this had been the plan from the start, the game would have been designed to be modular... unfortunately thanks to that ill-fated partnership, we are where we are.

 • 1. Read your Software License Agreement. You didn't buy the game or any of its content. You bought a license to play the game. Bungie still OWNS the game and everything in it. Just like buying a blue-ray disc or download of a movie doesn't give you ownership of anything IN the movie. Just the right to watch it. 2. You signed a contract that you agreed that the game is whatever Bungie decides it is, and can change at any time. If you are playing the game, you signed that contract: "I Agree". So PLEASE stop claiming ownership of something Bungie NEVER sold you. Bungie owes YOU NOTHING for changing the game. Bungie never promised a unchanging experience. In fact the contract you signed clearly states to expect the exact OPPOSITE. Why are the doing it? Simple explanation is that Bungie is trying to get 8 years out of a game that was only supposed to last THREE. If Bungie didn't remove content this game would have grown to a size that it woudl be UNPLAYABLE on last-gen consoles. So do you want a fixed experience that is a DEAD GAME because Bungie can't add anything to it and still have it work? Or are you willing to part with content that no one plays anymore, so that Bungie can continue to add new things for us to do. It really is that simple.
