This is what Bungie has to say this far regarding Steam Deck:

The date of that statement is over 2 months before BattlEye made their announcement, hence the repeat question. I understand some testing would need to be done on Bungies side, and it has only been 2 weeks since BattlEye made that statement. I guess my question would be: If all aspects of the game and AC system worked, would Bungie be willing to open Destiny 2 up to people on Linux?

any chance I can get this question marked as unanswered until somebody from Bungie is willing to make that announcement or respond here? I don't mind waiting for an answer, but having this marked as 'answered' seems a bit misleading.

The answer is there are no announced plans to support it. If/When that changes Bungie will make an announcement and all we can do until then is wait for it.
