We actually do not. Splitting the playerbase would be terrible for the mode.

Disagree. I don't think it would make it any easier for solos to go flawless. It would be very difficult to go flawless in that pool for the players who are currently solo queuing in Trials.
-
But would it be any more difficult? If the idea is that freelance is a bad idea because it would be too difficult for flawless, then it can’t be any more difficult than the potential for randoms to face odd against stacks. Freelance removes that factor, everyone is at the mercy of matchmaking now, not just the three that had to go against a stack.

So, your proposal is to not actually make it any easier for the solo players who are already not very good and are solo because they refuse to group up and to, simultaneously, ruin the mode for the above average player who is grouping up?
-
No, it's to make it more fair for the solo players, since everyone in the match will be in the same matchmaking style, no groups vs solos. And this doesn't mean solos CAN'T go into normal matchmaking, just there'd be a high likely chance of groups going against groups there. Explain how it would ruin it for the above average players grouping up?
-
Because the above average players cannot compete against sweat groups in trials. Thus is the reason why I had not been flawless in D2 and had stopped playing the mode and the mode was dead. The average to above average player need to get lucky and be matched against weaker players for 5/7 matches to have a decent chance to go flawless. This is the only thing that keeps this mode alive. Incentivizing solo players via the reward structure they have already put in place is what was needed and is already fair for players who prefer not to stack.
