Builds are about choices…and prices you’re willing to pay in one area for power in another.
As a Warlock, if I want high Recovery I have to sacrifice Mobility and Resilience.
As a Hunter, if I was high Mobility I have to sacrifice Recovery and Resilience.
This gives each class their own unique flavor, and discourages people from all running the same builds and same stat distributions.

I would agree if resilience actually meant anything. Not only do Hunters and Warlocks get better movement and health recovery respectively, but they also can get quick class ability cooldowns as a bonus. A Titans' class ability is tied down to a stat that is useless once you pass a basic low threshold.
-
Resilience= 1. Cooldown time for Titan barrier. 2. How much damage Titan barriers and Wards of Dawn can withstand. 3. How much damage you can withstand before dying. Run a sub-30 resilience and see how fast you die. 4. How much damage a Well of Radiance can withstand before collapsing.
4. How much damage a Well of Radiance can withstand before collapsing.
I would've liked Recovery to have affected Well health instead to align with Warlock rift timers, but I don't know if there's a technical reason that's not feasible. However, this change was probably specifically designed to get more players speccing into what was considered a nearly useless stat, and it's definitely impacted my build for the season.

I think Bungie wanted to stealth-nerf these two supers without breaking them entirely. By forcing us to chose between durability (Resilience), frequency (Intellect), and Healing/Class Ability cooldown (Recovery). They wanted there to be an interesting choice, and open up more build variety.

I will be honest, those points are definitely valid dependencies of resilience, but it's not enough to warrant getting higher tiers of resilience.
-
Depend on the context. Resilience was a major factor in the ability of Wells to last long enough to one-phase Templar, and I’m sure it will have a major impact on Wards and Wells come GMNF time again.
-
Our raid group has utilized 100% uptime rally barricades to protect Well of Radiance from Templar's splash damage.

I can understand that outlook - I mainly play PvP so from that side it feels a bit underwhelming of a stat that is attached to the Titan class ability. Thanks for your view though, I'm glad to hear that it plays a better role in PvE.

Few patches back it was fun when 100 resilience allowed you to survive 2-tap from 120 hand cannons. So many people got confused when I survived the shots, haha.

I think resilience is going to have its shining moment sooner or later. Mobility and recovery are very nice right now.
