My Shatter-dive nerf/suggestion.

Recent TWABs seem to indicate we are just going to play through this meta for the next several months. Personally I just try to keep my ears to the ground and avoid it as much as possible and it has kind of become manageable to a degree. With that said, I have a few key points which I think creates the current pain point for non-hunter mains. 1: Lots of Hunters out there, but neither you, I, nor Bungie can do anything on that front. 2: Shatter-diving can be near instantaneous without losing any of it's potency. As an example, you can throw a glacier grenade in a close quarters environment not double jump and still execute the play. I have seen a Hunter literally be next to it's glacier not even over it and still shatter all crystals. So it has set up potential and panic button potential. 3: Although previously nerfed, the high point before diving still has damage resistance. A competitive player is not trying to get dove on all day and will attempt to quickly reflex to the hunter's location in the air and shoot him/her down. However, in my experience, the damage resistance gives it the winning edge majority of the time. My first suggestion is to further reduce damage resistance or out right eliminate it (Based on internal play testing). Second suggestion is to add a "Terminal Velocity" affect found in top tree striker's super to the revenant aspect. This means the higher you in the air before diving you will receive full potency [i]vs[/i] the closer you are to the ground you will receive diminishing returns. I think this will result in positively discourage using it as a panic bottom and make player maybe think twice before using. (Maybe adjust it to a point were you would still be able to defeat a guardian who is not full health, but not one in their supers?) I feel the changes do not touch it's uptime but reign in the ease of use and potency just a wee bit.   • Bro even as a hunter the shatterdive/cryoclasm glacier combo is arguably the most user friendly and cheapest crap in PvP. I think because titans are going to be on hunter level of shatter again, the problem might be how the glacier grenade works. It should be primarily a utility for parkour and blocking. If it received a damage nerf and a health and duration buff, it would be balanced enough to where it's still possible to kill via freezing enemies and low health guardians with shatter. It's either that or reworking the fragment that gives grenade energy for shattering crystals to give melee instead. One last idea would be to make shatterdive cost a melee charge and have it apply 30 chilling on top of shattering crystals to compensate. At least that one wouldn't kill the build thanks to rev having 2 melee charges and gamblers dodge. Just a few ideas to not decimate the class while lowering the frequency of that build.

  • Titans can do the same thing. Throw and slide. Also...aspect of rending makes you 1 shot all crystals at the same time with fighting lion. Which anyone can use.
