The game population is split into 3 main platforms now, PS4, Xbox, and PC. This symptom got worse when PC got into the mix and then becoming severe when the population dwindles. The less people playing, the worse the experience becomes. Then you add to this the iron banner mechanics where the zones are locked and the hunt begins. That worsening experience is doubled. That's what's going on here. And no matter how they fix this, you can't change the fact that there are less people playing at a given time on your platform because population is split 3 ways, 4 with Stadia which is probably not much. That's why they are implementing cross play, again betting that the combined platform population may improve diversity experience. This is just speculation. It may improve PvP experience, or it may not. It's still up in the air. I doubt it will, but that's just me. Again, game is in life support and crossplay is another one of those life support strategy that may or may not save this ailing game.
