Call me cynical but I don’t know or why anyone can be excited about Cross Play at this moment and time.
Disjointed game with the same old seasonal grind, dull rewards, dull vendors, dull events, dull strikes, dull gambit, dull crucible maps, dull raiding experience, oversaturation and reliance on materials, time gating and cyclical rewards, seasonal nerfs and buffs to play the way Bungie wants you to.
Playing with or against some T\/\/AT on Xbox isn’t going to change the real underlying issues.
It’s hard to break the hamster wheel, I know that from experience, but once you start it’s amazing how much more free time you have in life or even to play different games! I have taken breaks from this game knowing that I’ll return. That is really beginning to change.
Playing with or against someone on Xbox isn’t going to change the real underlying issues.
Do you mean the issues they created and don't care to at least try to fix? Bungie has one thing that they are really good at. They love to ignore the actual issues in this game and it's why things will always be as they are.
-
Only streamers so they no longer have to change platforms to play with viewers.

Destiny is a social experiment lol

Cross play will be next seasons content lol -
Playing with or against some T\/\/AT on Xbox isn’t going to change the real underlying issues.
Respectfully, GFY.

When I hear of another company taking over this game giving it some life as Hight Moon and the other studio tried to do that Bungie made sure that it was squashed? I might take an interest in this game. But, we all know that won't happen.
-
Playerbase drop off is why they are pushing so hard on the crossplay bandwagon. Only reason why they would prioritize this over revitalizing the game…….we really should have been in D3 at this point….
-
Don't you think crossplay could be part of revitalizing the game?
-
Not in the slightest

Edited by A_mo: 7/30/2021 9:39:02 PMAt the very least there will be a larger player pool. I don't really understand why so many people seem to only focus on the minority of players that would be cheating or something as if the game is going to filter only those people and put them on their teams. Just really don't see how its anything but good. Its actually one of the best things to happen to D2 since it came out.
-
Edited by TheShadow: 7/30/2021 11:06:40 PMNot really seeing how it's basically the same player pool you have now that isn't anything to brag about. It's the expansion that will bring in some players and that money but that will be short-lived once most see it's no different than what Bungie has been doing since Activision left them, and the player base will drop off as usual with just the stragglers hoping as they have been for the last 5 years that "things will improve". Oh, almost forgot. Can't let Bungie take all the credit. Got to give some to fake people that call themselves streamers that lookout for the best interest of the player base that is going to hype the crap out of this next expansion to pay their bills.
-
More players means more options for PvP matchmaking whether the player population drops or goes up. I know Bungie is and should be but I don't particularly care about the player population going up and down as long as it stays above a certain number, which it basically will now.
Oh, almost forgot. Can't let Bungie take all the credit. Who said Bungie was doing anything with PvP? I mean, they have been letting it collect dust for 2 years now? Not that I have ever heard of any PvP game ever doing that but what do I know.
-
Edited by A_mo: 7/30/2021 11:17:29 PMThey've been doing plenty from what I can tell. It did kind of collect dust for two years, or maybe 1 year or so before they started working on it again. But from next season forward is really all that should matter. A whole lot of things are different now than they were 2 years ago and there were issues with the way PvP worked back then that a lot of people don't bring up.
-
But from next season forward is really all that should matter.
Nothing personal, but we've been hearing this for 4 years now. Bungie does a great job of painting a picture, but it never ceases to amaze me how things never turn out like the picture they painted.
-
That's why I think they haven't really been painting much of a picture about what PvP is going to look like just yet. Pretty much every season or release makes some kind of progress. And with a lot of the stuff when it gets added its really easy for everyone to pretend like the game was that way the whole time. There was relatively little work being done on PvP before and now from what we can tell they are working on something. So I'm fine with waiting until they actually put something out to decide how good it is.
-
Its actually one of the best things to happen to D2 since it came out.
I may be wrong but I think something along those lines was the tagline when free to play was announced. Oh dear. I'll be hard opting out of crossplay myself and if it's ever mandatory I'm done.
-
I'm pretty sure they said that you won't play PC players if you are on console unless you choose to play with PC players. So I'm not sure what the problem that some people seem to have is. Free to play is a whole different subject. This is something where the people who have been paying this whole time should feel like its kind of a milestone imo.
-
I forsee cross play being forced rather than option. Might be optional at first and then forced down the road
-
Edited by A_mo: 8/5/2021 2:55:06 PMThe reason its not going to be forced is because they obviously found out that it wouldn't be a a good idea. PC would probably have had to have their experience changed too drastically. And on PC there's a high proportion of players who play for the gameplay. They originally said that every platform would be in the same player pool but changed it most likely because it wasn't feasible.
-
Console players usually don't willingly want to play with pc players
-
I know. And most PC players generally don't want to play with people on controller from what I understand. Its basically two different games so its a good thing they won't be mixed unless people opt to do that.
-
I don't understand all the hate, i have friends on every platforms and now we can play all together with crossplay 🤷
-
Milestone or gravestone, we will be around to see how it pans out.
-
Edited by A_mo: 7/31/2021 2:52:55 PMEveryone will be here to see how that pans out... and Witch Queen, and Lightfall, and the other one. I just don't understand why more people won't admit it.
