I like your optimism. It will be another tepid expansion of go here and do this with a story that does not satisfy and a season pass of vaguely different horde mode activities. Destiny's best days are behind them. Then again I struggle to remember exactly when that was. Forsaken probably, the like of which we wont see again. It just seems to be limping from one episode of "It could be great" to the next. Its just filler for me now. Bought Cuphead the other day and am pretty much addicted to that. How a game with so little to it like that can be so enjoyable and addictive when you think Destiny has lots to it and manages to be tedious and boring is telling. Crossplay is coming because each platform is losing players. On PS4 I keep seeing the same names in the tower. If Witch Queen ramps it up I will pony up for it. But I'm not holding my breath.

Every game gets old after several years of its existence. I could hardly blame any expansion for Destiny for it. People said the game is dead, yet its alive as ever. Even Taken King didn't changed a lot, it even introduced stuff like weapon retirement long before D2 actually did. IMO the best times of Destiny aren't over. The best times actually started with the steady implementation with active seasons, in stark contrast to D1 were we had several months of nothing in between. Despite being "horde modes", many laugh about, that's exactly what most people actually do in D2 right now, even the "haters" who always return when something amazing drops in the game. The broad mass though are casual players still, and they enjoy these activities since they are short and rewards are ok. Not to complicated, 15 minutes of action. Done. It's an action-RPG afterall. Even in older Halo games, most encounters were designed in a short fashion (with no objectives, unlike Destiny). Taken King also introduced horde mordes (Court of Oryx), also Rise of Iron (Archons Forge). And also, the praised Forsaken DLC had horde modes (Blind Well). Beyond Light's year is really strong in terms of lore/story progression/development, overall presentation (like the Glycon mission), introduction of new characters, tons of dialoge, well made cutscenes, great weapons/loot with great perks, etc. That is what people asked for since Forsaken, including myself, cauz after said expansion everything felt disconnected. And during all the Covid stuff going on I'm actually surprised that the current seasons and content feel rather strong. I expected it the other way tbh. Many little things keep getting connected and to me Destiny right now is in its best times. So its hard to judge about Destiny and its best times being over. Because back then maybe everything was "new" and exciting. That's natural, and counts for every game if you ask me. Yet Destiny's best time certainly wasn't pre Forsaken or even D1 in general (D2 launch wasn't great either). The true answer is: people get fed up with the game after so many years, and I don't blame them, because it simply is just natural and as a Destiny player since D1s launch I can fully understand it. Destiny shouldn't be a job, and you can still love the game, and play other games.

  • So just my 2 cents here- Maybe cuphead is so fun for you cause it's brand new and shiny vs destiny which you've been playing for years? Yet you talk like it's someone else's fault you've outgrown the infatuation.
