It is a taken portal but I dont believe we are taken. Since the vanguard sponsore this game, the pvp aspect is probably more like crucible. The better question is why the adds see invaders as friendly? The only answer that really makes sense is this is some sort of jury rigged vex simulation that the drifter created. This would explain why enemies spawn in specific areas and are friendly to invaders. This makes even more sense since the splicer activity is basically gambit, but is a vex simulation.

  • Just so you know, the vanguard does NOT sponsor gambit (hence the vanguard/drifter loyalty quests in deason 6) and the player is taken, hence the drifters line "this is what the taken feel. Revel in this" when you invade. But yes, vex simulations do seem like the best way to go as far as an answer to my question.

  • Actually they do, the loyalty quest was actually for warlock Anor because she didnt trust the drifter. I believe it was back in forsaken or a Y2 season there was a lore tab were Ikora and Zavala sanctioned gambit as there was no proof the drifter was evil and so they viewed it the same as crucible.
