What definitely doesn't make sense is that if you are essentially gambling on invading another player's world that you get infinite wall hacks on them. That's complete bullshit and don't feed me it's 4 on 1 because it never is.
It's not a thing in any Souls game which is clearly where they stole this mechanic ffrom.

Wall hacks won’t help too much if you are going against a halfway decent player. 3 possible spawns, and it’s usually not that hard to figure out where they’ll be from there. Good positioning will keep you alive 9 times out of 10. I’m all for hating on Gambit, but the only annoying thing about invading is when the invader crutches heavy and super.

It's just a free chance to cause problems without any real consequences. If they hadn't left gambit to rot and actually worked to balance it and improve it would be one of the best things in the game.

When you invade, you’re gambling your usefulness to the team. You may invade, get a 4k and deny toms of motes or boss dps. Or, you may get whopped immediately, wasting time that could be spent summoning a primeval or banishing one to the shadow realm.

"Stole". That's a little disengeous bud. Reeks of Bungie hate boner.
"Stole". That's a little disengeous bud. Reeks of Bungie hate boner.
That's fine. This is confirmation bias. You're discounting me to avoid acknowledging the validity of my argument or engaging with it. Would it matter to you if I changed my wording to "borrowed the idea"?

Edited by Fish: 7/30/2021 2:46:48 AMIt would be 100% better actually. To say that it was stolen would imply that there was no creative merrit to their process when creating Gambit. Many games feature similar ideas and inspire each other. So unless we can see an obvoius carbon copy it's silly to label anything as stolen. You're still being pretty disengeous btw. You acknowledge that you had a poor use of words and try to pigeonhole me to not being willing to have a conversation.

Almost every video game being made takes influence from media of all sorts. It is extremely hard to come up with 100% completely unique ideas that have never been done before in any game/movie/book. Other games with an "invasion" mechanic include Doom Eternal, Dying Light, Watchdogs, Deathloop, Warframe... Saying they stole the invade mechanic from darksouls would be like saying Valorant stole weapon inspecting from CS:GO, or CoD stole weapon reloading from 007: Goldeneye.
