rtx 2060 and intel core i7, its not that though. I can run cyberpunk at a steady 100 fps with high settings and doom at a constant 144 fps with high settings. I just don't understand what could cause it...

Yes it matters, because the problem lies in the way some Steam games access GPU's ... Because some times, for whatever reasons, Steam games tend to default back to integrated (typical Intel on board) GPU's and stop using the dedicated (nvidia/amd) GPU.

You can usually tell which GPU it's using by going into the video settings in game and looking at how much VRAM it says you have.
