VOG is an easy raid to carry 2 newbies, assuming the other 4 have mastered the raid.
Even still, raids should not be designed for players who want to casually pick up. This isnt some braindead strike.

Yea, Bungie making too much of this game less and less of a challenge has convinced everyone that everything should be easy to the point where everyone thinks they should get carried or just "ad clear". No, everyone has a role and needs to participate, which is why it's a raid.

I’d make an argument about not wanting to stress myself like that over a video game, but I’m sure the response will just be to tell me that if I’m not good enough I don’t deserve to clear raids, or the always classic calling me a waste of oxygen and telling me to kms/stop playing the game
