AMD users have been afflicted by poor performance for 6 months since Beyond Light launched
The PC performance issues on Destiny 2 for AMD graphics card users have affected us since the launch of the Beyond Light expansion on November 10, 2020 and still has yet to be fixed. However, there is a "solution" that was identified by the community, though it is a buggy one. By navigating to your CVAR file for Destiny 2 (located in `C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Roaming\Bungie\DestinyPC\prefs`) and simply changing the "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value to "1", you can increase (even double depending on your hardware) your frame rates and decrease your frame times. [b][i]However[/i][/b], this change comes with buggy graphical flickering that is incredibly distracting, sometimes unplayable and potentially harmful for those who suffer from photosensitive epilepsy. I'm not advising players afflicted by this issue to modify their CVAR file, this is just an analysis on my part.
This thread and supporting video is to bring attention to this problem [b]in hopes that Bungie will resolve the graphical issues related to "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit"[/b] and then enable it for players after it has been fixed. As of uploading this video, the performance issues on PC have affected me and other players with AMD graphics cards for over 6 months now and a fix for it has been long overdue.
Please folks, console players or PC NVIDIA players alike, help us out here so this issue will get Bungie's attention. [b]Yes, I'm fully aware "Bungie is investigating this issue" but this it's been over 6 months and this issue needs to be a much higher priority on their list now.[/b]

Edited by MarciZz: 5/29/2021 6:27:13 AMI have bought a new 6800 xt and the performance in destiny is terrible. In the new override i only get around 30-40 fps. So its absolutly unplayable. In pvp you get freezys and so on. So no chance in Most situations. This problem is here since the Last dlc. So i bought a Graphic Card for around 1400$ and the only Game that performes worse is only destiny. Every other game performance is Perfect. Pls @bungie fix the Problem as you fix ist with Nvidia!

I think they are purposefully ignoring us now, I think something else is going on in Bungie. This season is so low energy that I feel like everyone there is burnt-out and they need some time off. The game has so many bugs and glitches that haven't been fixed since Y1 of destiny 2. I'm legit worried that Bungie is on the brink of like a company equivalent of a breakdown.

They just frick over a big portion of their player base for 7 months now and we r kinda tired o.o Mby let Cozmo take a look on who's working on what in the company and then write abt how many ppl are focused on handling this in the TWAB? Just any update....... Big bumpp ^^

Resetting shaders helps a lot, but there are still problems. I find that I have to reset them every time Destiny 2 updates. I agree that it is a major problem and they need to fix it. I have a RX 5700 XT on my PC.

2 RepliesI use an RX 5700 XT and had the same issues. I found that using the old AMD 20.4.2 drivers fixed the performance issues. However, if you go back to this old driver you may run into an issue where the game can hang, black screen and crash when you alt-tab to another application. The fix I found for this was to run the game in windowed full screen. Now my game doesn't have performance issues and the game doesn't hang or crash when I wanna use DIM or Discord while playing Destiny.
