THIS MIGHT HELP BUNGIE: I've discovered that the longstanding stuttering issues I've had with this game (which I had been blaming on 3000 series Nvidia drivers) are in fact the fault of WIRELESS Xbox controller inputs. Specifically, Xbox 360 pads (although it possibly occurs on the newer gen ones too).
What happens is general gameplay will be lovely and smooth but then suddenly the frame rate will utterly tank from anywhere between 10-30 frames per second - for the briefest of moments, so it feels like stutter and it is extremely noticeable in the visual and input response sense. This happens maybe every 30-50 seconds while playing. For months and months it had been driving me mad and I'd tried absolutely everything to solve it, and then I discovered the root cause by pure chance...
For a different game, my son had plugged a WIRED Xbox 360 controller into the PC and I then eventually used that pad to play Destiny with. Lo and behold, I immediately noticed the stutter had completely disappeared! The problem was solved.
This only happens with Destiny 2, and it is a relatively newer issue (I'd say present since New Light). I've also tested my wirelessly connected keyboard and mouse to make sure they weren't interfering with the controller signal - they do not.
Hopefully this info can assist Bungie with an issue which has potentially been plaguing the game and hassling players for months.
