Why are people getting hyped over this gun anyway? If its best possible roll is the old Triple Tap + Firefly/Dragonfly combo then it still won't be good. Just ask the curated Distant Relation. If it's Kinetic, then it won't be able to get Firefly/Dragonfly anyway; remember the bugged Cold Front with Dragonfly that eventually had the perk switched?
I would love for it to be good. If it got Meganeura as a possible perk, then it could be amazing; but it won't, it'll just be another average Scout Rifle that underperforms because that's what Scout Rifles do in D2.

True. I never got the hype for that thing even in D1. Imago Loop had so much more utility. Heck I used my PvP Eyasluna more in PvE than any scout at that time. Scout rifles don’t have a place in PvE except the outliers in the exotic slot or the new Raid one. And even then they get outperformed by pretty much everything else. Im going to call that if it could drop with meganeura it still won’t see use. Look at oxygen back in the day. It didn’t get any use. And I’m willing to say that even if it drops with Master of Arms from Recluse and Meganeura in the kinetic slot it still won’t get any use because of the pitiful state where scouts currently reside in.

To be fair though Oxygen had to compete with Luna's, Not Fortgotten, The Recluse, Mountaintop and Revoker.

While that is true, now it has to compete with Igneous, Palindrome and Bottom dollar who dip into the scout range anyway :/ that’s the problem

Exotic. Same goes for Dead Man's Tale in Crucible; it isn't fair to judge the performance of a weapon type by its Exotics. There are very few Legendary Scouts that can even roll with desirable perk combinations, even fewer that are worth using. In my opinion, Transfiguration with Rampage + Kill Clip is the only current Legendary Scout that can hold its own in all parts of the game. Night Watch, Eternal Blazon and the likes are decent but they bring nothing new to the table nor do they do their job exceptionally well.
