Have empathy for your parents’ situation but learn from their mistakes. My life was a disaster from 9-25 and my parents divorce, alcoholism, and depression played a decent sized role in that. That said, own your mistakes regardless of whether there are contributing factors outside of your control. It will get better. Life has a funny way of working out as long as your expectations are realistic and you define what success means to you.
