Would you leave Destiny if they took out PvP?

Just a survey for devs to see what they should be focused on. Edit: I've been reading almost all the posts to my poll, and really am enjoying the engaging argument. Yes, I realize the forum has a bias towards PvE. Not much I can do about that. It is what it is. What I am pleased to see is the COMMENTS seem to be relatively equal in PvP vs PvE...and that was my hope. Is balance in PvP hurting PvE? Should D2 PvE be a deeper RPG experience? What other games handle this marriage of PvP and PvE well, and how are they able to do that? Is PvP being held back by lack of engaging content? While most will blame one side for the other's demise, the long and short of it is that Destiny 2 is HUGELY popular...and has been all the while with a marriage of both PvP and PvE...even creating a new genre of game that combines then both, with Gambit. What I feel Bungie needs to do is continue engaging all three sections of the game equally. Seasons should simply rotate the focus...so each get a large content drop when it's their turn. As far as balancing the game, they should stop trying so hard. Balancing doesn't mean make EVERYTHING the same. It means making everything have POTENTIAL...if you use the right combination of mods, perks and play styles. I just don't know if Bungie is slowly killing off PvP to get people to engage with their next IP or are they just struggling to get the right people to fix D2. What I do know, however, is the struggle is real!

In my opinion, the pve isn't enough to sustain the game by itself. People got tired of battlegrounds really quick but maybe bungie will make less repetitive activities, who knows.

  • Probably. I like some PVE stuff quite a bit, but for personal reasons I play solo a lot, which is one of the reasons I haven't raided for a long time. This season I did more PVE things than I normally do, especially things I could solo, like the Presage quest and the Xenophage quests. I like PVP more simply because you don't know what's going to happen match to match, and since I don't have the skills to ever be "expert" at it, each match is a challenge for me, which is appealing.

  • What harm does it do? I’m talking on a literal statement, They don’t focus on it as shown. And stuff like “nerfs” and other arguments are all things that don’t ACTUALLY harm anything. At worst, it takes up space. But as much as I love Destiny for “Destiny.” PvP is a lot of people’s main thing to do whenever bored. Taking it out WOULD KILL so much for so many people. I’m not saying they shouldn’t do soooooomething about PvP. I’m just saying they shouldn’t even consider taking out PvP

  • Oh yeah, who the hell just wants to run the same stupid repetitive strike all day every day. In case you haven’t noticed they haven’t done anything with strikes either. I haven’t seen any complaints about this because this is what the people who play for 10 minutes a week love to do.

Gone like a shot. Borderlands, Division (counting this as its gunplay was abysmal, hence its PvP was as well), Outriders, Anthem and all the other ‘Destiny Killers’ were the poster children for how swiftly it would die without PvP. Its gameplay loop and endgame isn’t strong enough to withstand being standalone PvE without haemorrhaging players. Most of this forums PvE-only players are usually quick to point the finger and say “I HaTe PvP sO BuNgIe PlZ ReMoVe”, as if the game were catered solely to them, but casual or PvP mains generally acknowledge that the game needs both to survive.

      • I'd probs play new raids once or twice when they come out and that's it, without pvp I'm not interested. Who tf wants to just do strikes over and over (in my opinion)

      • C'mon pvp has been in Destiny for seven years now. I know there are many in the community who don't like the pvp experience but we can't honestly think removing the Crucible is as simple as yanking out a tooth. It's going to remain a fixture of the game going forward and I doubt any devs are thinking about giving up on Crucible as long as people are playing it.

If PvP were gone, this game would actually die... There is not enough pve content by far and the real endgame is PvP, as the toughest PvE content we currently have is laughably easy.

        • PVP is the endgame. Without that, this game's re-playability goes to the craps. Most people keep playing this game because of PVP, no matter how much of a poopshow it becomes. I have to say PVE in this game is not that great, mainly because the story in this game SUCKS. It is such a mess. I skip all cutscenes, and don't read any of the "lore" that all comes off as terrible fan-fiction. PVP in this game has drastically suffered since the game became f2P. Matchmaking is awful, there's not enough good maps, and if you aren't playing with a well organized team everyone just runs off by themselves straight into the opposing force. Everything about this game needs TLC.

        • Considering Destiny's PvP is overfowing with cheap, Stasis spamming, Shotgun sliding, pricks, I couldn't care less if Bungie got rid of it. All I'd miss is putting aforementioned pricks in their place and Shaxx's commentary. #SunsetTransmog

          • I think I would leave every season after playing the story and doing some raids. That’s it. Nothing else to do after that.

            • Actually, PvP is the only thing I don't care about in Destiny. Second is Gambit because of the PvP element. LOL

              • I wouldn't leave, but I would play considerably less than I do now. Pvp is the only thing that keeps me coming back consistently.

              • I'm going to be a blunt as I can. Would I leave? No. Would my playtime be severely cleaved down to less than it is already? Yes. There's only so many things in PvE you can do before you have to step aside. PvP has it's place in this game.......it's kinda too late to remove it. To say it's in need of some serious love is an understatement.

              • I’m not playing because it’s boring. I feel literal physical pain every time I boot this game up, Destiny needs better competition before in turns into Madden or FIFA.

              • Nah. This season I only played enough pvp to complete the seasonal challenges. I used to play more, but that was back when there was actual end game loot like not forgotten and mountain top, or seasonal stuff like Randy's. Now, there's literally no point other than to fill time. And I would rather spend it playing more enjoyable things than Crucible. I might come back to it if they add something worth while to chase. And honestly, that's why I'm glad they've been focusing on pve more. It seems like a waste to spend resources on something that doesn't reward you with much.

              • I wouldn’t miss PvP all that much. I have enjoyed it at times, but it is not my favorite part of Destiny. Without the restrictions of PvP balancing, it “should” be easier to add a larger amount of guns and also more creative guns to PvE.

              • Actually my playtime would increase cause destiny pvp sucks in comparison with good pvp games. Like that they would have more resources for pve. They messed up pvp since the beginning. Time to realise that you can't fix/balance destiny pvp.
