These are some general bits of story that I managed to establish for the campaign and setting. If anything here reminds you of something else, it's unintentional. Created, a broad term referring to any entity that was brought into being by a maker. Though they vary greatly overall they have one thing in common, they must have a solid connection to their respective makers. If this connection is broken, it will result in the unit going unconscious within a matter of moments until the link is reestablished. Makers, beings capable of making created by taking human thoughts and memories to shape into more refined, stable forms. While their creations must have a solid connection to stay conscious, said units still possess free will. Aspects, a special type of created that can somehow retain consciousness even when their maker connection is severed. They still prefer to stay connected for a different reason, immortality. Most aspects respect each other as siblings in arms, especially among the few that survived the first war. Severing connections, while such occurances are rare, they are still a major threat to aspects as dying while their connection is broken can lead to a permanent death. Luckily, it takes a significant amount of power to force a link to break let alone disrupt one enough to make an aspect mortal. Humanity, while some created still call themselves humans, beings of the Between know humans as the organisms that all created originate from in some way, regardless if humans made them intentionally or not. No human has ever broke out of their world and none of their creations have ever set foot in theirs, with no sign of this changing anytime soon. The first war, the first major conflict recorded in the mapped regions of the Between. Created, aspects, and makers fought as one to fend off a plague known simply as "the Broken." Today, few even know what a broken looks like outside the war stories of the few remaining veterans. [spoiler]I hope this gives you all a good idea about the direction I hope to take this.[/spoiler]
