They gave shotguns and snipers a Champion mod, so I’m hoping fusion rifles will be next. Along with a PvE-only damage buff. Bungie also mentioned tinkering with Reservoir Burst, which is Loaded Question’s signature perk. In PvP fusion rifles can’t get much better (naturally tighter bolt spread, increased range, more damage) because players will be back to mapping opponents at crazy ranges or making [i]easy[/i] OHKs right outside of shotgun ranges. I’d like them to be better but that’s not the way to go. However one MUCH NEEDED change would be to stop making the bolts disappear after dying. That is INCREDIBLY stupid and we’ve had to deal with this problem since D1. Once the fusion rifle is charged, and you fire, the weapon’s bolts should travel whether you’ve died or not.

  • They would probably be anti barrier as fusions can run with disruption break or sheild disorient. Both are fantastic for sheild anti barrier weapons.

  • Well overloads are continuous fire kinda stuff. You need to keep hitting them so maybe if the last bolt hits them? Although they would be great for overloads as merciless could be a champ remover... Could if they ever fix it.

In D2 fusions were switched to hitscan, so there’s no projectile involved.

  • My point still stands. You lose fights despite the fact that you just fired and now the damage no longer counts. But this ALSO happened with D1 fusion rifles even though they were projectiles. I remember having many conversations with other voopers who voiced this frustration.

Missed shots don’t have anything to do with dying. You can die before all shots are fired, maybe that’s what you’re taking about? Unlike shotguns, fusions don’t fire all of its spread at once. It’s for that reason that stability is important on fusions and not shotguns. If you die before all of a burst is shot, it won’t do whole lot of damage.

Being hitscan means that the bolts don’t have travel time, so they can’t disappear before hitting.

The burst is in fact hit scan but if you die mid burst the remaining bolts will not release.
