• It ain't easy do you know how much time and work goes into making this sh^t? LOTS of emails back and forth, copyright, voice acting, programming, graphic design, budget, the list goes on. The game industry is struggling in general, a lot of games are making slow progress with development. Look at COD (BO) Cold War's Outbreak mode. It's literally zombie mode on Fireteam maps (clever actually, able to spend less $, not overblow your budget, and meet your quota) which has sadly become increasingly common. To anyone else who reads this consider explaining in detail what you feel is wrong, don't b^tch there is a difference between feedback and just plain criticism. To tide you over let's remember the GOD MODE from d1!

  • Criticism and feedback are both required, sure. Criticism however will come first as long as Bungie continue to make poor decisions when better decisions are so obvious. Game design is difficult and alot of effort goes into it for sure, however that does not excuse what they are doing. At all. To defend what they're doing is to accept it and tell them that its alright to continue doing so. Bungie choose Eververse over the rest of the game every time, your latest evidence is in the transmog system. Its needlessly complex and if I have to tell you what's wrong with it then you possibly haven't quite thought it through. They said they'd have a "renewed focus on PvP" and we are yet to see that in any capacity. If I were to go on I think I'd be here for hours. There is alot of good in this game obviously, that's why we're still here. That doesn't excuse all the bad and all the poor decisions and in fact all the negatives make it harder for people to acknowledge the good that exists. Bungie knows what they're doing right and what they're doing wrong but people keep rewarding them for doing the wrong thing. So yes, that means it is partly on those people for enabling those decisions but it is still Bungie's game and they elect to continue to make decisions that negatively impact the game and the community.

No, but I was doing a games design course at one point and I know at least some of what it takes, admittedly not much but its more than nothing. Why do you ask?

  • I've done some game design, it ain't easy for a lot of folks doing graphics and animation. But depending on the software you use, the number of people you have working on it, the budget you have, the process can get faster. A friend is a team manager of a small company. From hearing him -blam!- across the room I've learned a few things. 1. Communication is key during a group project especially when everyone is working from home (communication is faster in-person, instead of sending 100s of emails back and forth and lots of phone and zoom calls, which is frustrating). 2. People can make mistakes or get sloppy (especially when you don't have someone looking over your shoulder if your at home). 3. Miscommunication is common, say the lead planner of the project tells the graphics designer to make something. 8 hours later the lead planner tells him to stop because it's not appropriate for the content they're making or he did it wrong and has to start over, plus a lot of other things etc. 4. Sales are important as well as your budget, money is always an issue no matter what you do. Bungie focusing on Eververse is an effort for the creators to raise money. While mechanics for weapons are harder to make cosmetics is easier to design, since it overlaps an existing model. 5. In order to do something or suggest something you need to get it approved. 6. You need to do extensive research in a lot of your work. Copyrights, genre, feedback (which is sorta reliable at best, especially when they say what they want/expect you to do without offering solutions and if they give solutions they require approval and debate or aren't able to do it with their current resources as their schedule may be full). 7. Its easy to get frustrated and quit. Sometimes you've just had a hard day or you feel undervalued and lose motivation. I can go on and on but some of the rest is over my head honestly. A friend once said to me,
it's okay to give feedback but be civil in your reply, in times like these where we are all separated all we have is our words
. Because all we have are words sometimes we take them the wrong way (
sometimes words can cut deeper than any blade
). In tough times what people need is support, not put downs or insulting their intelligence, those just cause stress and make people not want to listen. I ask you to try to be civil and kind so as to empower them and not to strike them down. Because we don't always know what it's like for the person wearing the other shoe. Also we can't control what others are thinking but can control what we choose to say. Before you say this is just a forum remember your words have impact on those we listen. Thank you for the reply.

  • I understand, it doesn't make it any better or easier as someone who pays for all this to continue to see the exact same mistakes made over and over again, including what should be a simple and easy to make decision turning into "how can we make even more money than we do" rather than, "what can we do for our loyal players". I know, its a business but yeah.
