Haven't personally tested, but I've heard instead of setting the time back, you just set it forward instead and it'll work.

Just did the Tower test. 👍 We wouldn't have to do these things if Bungie would make the Firewall feature from the Haunted Forest a universal feature in the game. Instead they ban people because of a vendetta.

And that right there is the real point. OP's main gripe is that Bungo doesn't provide a simple, legit method to meet the needs of those who don't want to speedrun. The stupid Joining Allies thing by definition means the non-speeders are going to get screwed, so why not provide a solo option so everybody can be happier? Oh wait, it's Bungle we're talking about here...
