they used to be humans, until an incident happened out in space where the dark and light collided near a ship and all the crew members were turned into the awoken. two of the crew members being mara and uldren someone else can probably explain it in better detail than me 😅 but that’s the gist of it

  • Ok, forgive me I'm a bit of a typer and 7 years of lore comes and goes so forgive me if misremember some of the finer details hahahaha. So the awoken are an immortal offshoot of humanity created during the clash of the Darkness and Light during the events of the Collapse. At the very end the Golden Age of Humanity, humanity is setting out to colonize star systems outside of sol! super cool but, the Darkness arrives and things get worse and worse. Warmind Rasputin upon appraising his effectiveness against the Darkness launches the colony ships in an attempt to protect humanity (kinda his whole original job) They get blown up left and right, however one ship (i think its only one ship but it probably harbored millions of people) gets caught in a paracasual explosion between light and dark and the colony ship gets warped through space into a pocket dimension known as the Distributary. The warping caused by the insane explosion is what mutates our human colonists into the immortal race, the awoken. Now, the story predominately follows mara sov here for a couple millenia. Mara Sov is the first awoken to regain conciousness within this pocket dimension and upon waking up she literally shapes the Distributary into a form. (She straight up plays god in her own pocket dimension) then pretends to still be asleep so as not to be credited with how crazy she is. The Distrubutary exists in a different flow of time entirely so the awoken have been chillin in the Distributary for millenia when they come to this moral question of whether or not humanity survived the collapse and whether or not they were obligated to do anything about it. Something like half the awoken decide that its their responsibility as once humans to help protect or save or find whats left of their original race. This is a one way trip as there is no known way to return to the distrubutary and even if they did, who knows how many eons would pass within the Distributaries unique flow of time. My brief synopsis

  • yes this is perfect!! although i don’t think the awoken are immortal, they just live way longer than regular humans kinda like elves! but no pointy ears. and blue.
