It's called phases not 'damage gating'. And it happens to help build super for damage phase so it stays.
It's called phases not 'damage gating'. And it happens to help build super for damage phase so it stays.
This. Read your post carefully. Got it? There ya go big guy. Have a nice day.

You're not understanding his comment. He's not saying the purpose is to build supers; he's just saying it's an effect. "It happens to (blank)" is a pretty common English phrase, at least in America.

It is.

I happened to be scrolling through the comments when I came across this argument. It just so happens that one guy didn't understand what was being said. Imagine my surprise when another guy happened to live his whole life without coming across a pretty well-known phrase. https://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/happen-to-do-something

I don’t think it’s for super. I think that was the last thing on their minds when they did it. I honestly think it’s to attempt to add difficulty as well as make it so we can’t burn in 5 or 6 seconds like we did in d1
-
Intentions are fleeting. Fact is you do build super between phases.
-
Yes but you implied it was for building supers. That is incorrect. Sides there are plenty of weapons better than all but two of the supers😂
-
Any offensive action builds supers, what do you mean "incorrect"? Are we not building super during damage gated phases, yes or no?
-
We are. That goes without saying. But let me say this as simply as I can, since it seems you aren’t understanding, it is not meant to build supers. That is the last thing bungie was thinking when they damage gated. They are trying to make sure we can’t burn the boss immediately. It is an artificial stretching of content by forcibly capping damage. That is what this entire post is about. Building supers has nothing to do with this post is why I corrected you😂
-
I don't care what it was meant to do, during these phases we can build super which is a net benefit to doing boss damage.
-
You’re the same guy who complains that you cant get your strike bounties done because your teammates are going too fast lmao

I think I understand kinda where the two of you are coming from, however if a boss could be taken down or immensely damaged by everyone using their super at once, what purpose does the invincibility phase do other than pad out the time spent fighting it? While you do build your super during these phases, I feel as if those invincibility phases were not implemented expressly for building your super. It feels more like a byproduct.

A good byproduct.
