What Remains of Paradise
”There are things worse than death Mr. Barichi. I take it you know your role in this? Good, we will be watching your career with great interest, or at least what remains of it.”
| Offtopic, The City | Silas walked over to a bench in the park. His normally carefree attitude was replaced by a far sinister mood. He stated at the pond and then at the shadow of a nearby tree. | Silas: “Reality isn’t what it seems, I take it you two know what I have done?” | No one answered, though the landscape did change. What was one a peaceful park was replaced with a vast expanse of nothing. He knew that something has answered, and he didn’t like it. Everything was going so well, for now at least. | Xyun: “Silas darling, we know what you have done. You need not fret about what is going to take place. Your life is in our hands, you have my word.” | Silas: “Good, now let this deal commence!” | A tent appeared behind Silas, he did not seem to be alarmed by this. Mori walked inside as Xyun sealed the gate behind him, she laughed to herself as someone approached. | “I take it you’ve done the right thing? You’ve found the traitor? And I take it that the plant is with him too?” | Xyun: “Yes Nurull it is all going according to plan, though what right do you have to be alive? Did they resurrect you periodically? If so then you should be—“ | Nurull: “Grateful, yes, and I am grateful for what they have done. I will depart from you now, madam.” | }{}{ | Chapter 2 | }{}{ | Silas walked inside and paced around the empty carnival tent. He began to grow nervous, his skin turned pale, and his eyes twitched. Something was off, something that not even he was aware of. | Silas: “Who’s there! Show yourself, you coward!” | Someone glanced at him from the shadows, his own wife, Adria. She too seemed off, though nothing clicked. | Adria: “Who are you to call your own wife a coward, traitor!” | Silas backed away, he stumbled to the ground in his panic. | Silas: “I... I... I don’t understand, what’s going on here?” | Adria’s gaze shifted, her form had changed, her dress was gone. In its place were writhing tendrils, her face was a nest of stone cold eyes. She seemed, inhuman, twisted and distorted by the dark. | —: “Do you not know your crimes, Warden? We have been watching you for some time. Yes, we finally revealed ourselves to you, Harbinger. We are the very venom that you serve, made manifest through your victims. You cannot run from us now, Warden. | Silas: “Who are you? What are you?” | Death Defiancy: “Isn’t it simple? We are what you serve, we are death defiancy made manifest. A pinnacle of evolution, albeit a very small one. Now we shall watch your trial unfold. Your executioner lies in front of you, let her lead the way. | }{}{ | Chapter 3 | }{}{ | The Coven departed from him, and in its place was Adria. She stared at her husband and drew her trident. The venom coursed through her veins, it seemed all too natural. | Adria: “Your transgressions have gone unnoticed for some time. No matter, they will be laid out bear for all to see. Goodbye, Mr Mori.” | Silas closed his eyes for one last time. He could feel the blade that now pierced his chest, he smiled. | What lay before him now a was a corridor. Images flickered in and out of existence on both sides of it. | ‘Memory Lane’ Silas thought as he strode through the corridor. | Upon reaching the door, Silas turn the handle, and was pulled inside. He was greeted by a familiar setting, Italy. More specifically, the front door of Galileo’s estate, yet things were different this time. Now, Silas held a gun in his hand, held inside was a single bullet. He knew what he was going to do, and rejoiced at the idea of it. |
“Who is it?” Barichi said, opening the door
| Silas didn’t have time to think before he fired the gun. He then gazed down at the corpse, a chill crept over him. Such a feeling remained as he walked back towards his car. That feeling turned into mortal terror when he saw who was sitting in the drivers seat. | Barichi: “Of all the clients that you didn’t like, why’d it have to be me? You slaughtered me, and in a few seconds, your masters resurrected me. You cannot live with other knowing your lies. You betrayed all those you met, lied about your alliance with Lythros, and watched her die. Now the same will happen to you, and Axolaire for good measure, ta ta Silas.” | }{}{ | Chapter 4 | }{}{ | Adria looked up from Silas’ now disintegrated corpse. She did not weep, nor did she mourn, for she had not lost anything of importance. She gazed up at her sister who smiled and slithered over to her. | Xyun: “Shall we be going?” | Adria nodded as the two of them left, the reality faded behind them. The reality was what remained of Elys... What remained of paradise |
