i disagree.. i think this is needed.. in the past ALL WEAPONS nerfed from PVE are due to us melting the boss.. if this is what it takes to stop nerfing every other weapon Im good with it.

    how can you even think this.. this does not make the encounter more difficult or more enjoyable. Its really just "time gated".. I'm all for making it more challenging, but this isn't the way to do it.. I'd rather effeciently grind then have my time wasted and that's what this is. This hasnet and won't stop nerfs to weapons in PVE

    Well hold on a sec. nobody ever complained about melting champions or mini-bosses. If you look back, most nerfs are because of some exploit/issue with bosses. This could be a good thin Edit: sp

  • Actually, some streamers complained since "they way we melt(ed) bosses removes the challenge of the game". Not gonna mention names but I think most people who were around during the EP shotty, Whisper, Orpheus, Rally Barricade and the Warlock leg armor (that I don't remember the name, sorry) will certainly remember said streamers making videos about how "we shouldn't be so powerful". Don't get me wrong. I think that the game really needs to have a challenge, but It simply doesn't make sense to me that you shouldn't be able to obliterate a boss if you have the firepower to do so. I see no reason why, for example, Omnigul wouldn't be mowed down with 4th Horseman + Specialist + Arc Burn + Melting point + Tether on D1 simply because the boss have a "HP lock" that makes it immune because "the game said so".

  • Ya I know they complained about boss-bosses. But if you live in the game more than irl, you’re gonna come across exploits and cheezes. And I don’t think they should design the game around no-lifers. I’m not a fan of the 3phase design but if anything it kinda levels the playing field. At least insofar as boss battles are concerned. What they don’t tell you in “those” videos is the setup involved (for the most part). It gives a false narrative and ppl eat it up

Sadly, as those players are the "poster boys" for Bungie, they almost always follow what they say. It has been this way since D1 and I really don't think it will change. About the "3 phase" I just think it's boring if the other phases are only repetition like, as an example, the Fanatic boss. It's just Boss gets damaged > becomes immune > summon ads > Boss gets damaged > get immune > summon ads... It's boring. If second or third phases implied on different mechanics It would be "tolerable" but most likelly they don't. This also throws your sense of progression and "getting stronger" through the window, since even if you throw a Nuke on the boss, It'll just tank said nuke and stop taking damage because the game decided so. Our equipment was the single "progression" we had, since light levels are just a number akin to a height scale to play X content. And making even this (equipment) be meaningless by making the bosses survive anything you throw at them because of "damage limits" just blows any sense of "power" you have.

  • I’m not disagreeing with you here. I’m just saying if they nerf because of the boss-battle, it negatively affects the whole game. If a 3phase boss-battle keeps the nerfs from happening, I’d prefer the latter and consider it a net positive even regarding power fantasy and whatnot

  • Personally, I was a HUGE fan of HCs on D1. But on D2 it's too much... Everything is about HCs. Autos? Pulses? Forget about it... Oh and, of course, Scouts. GOD FORBID Bungie making them something desirable at all...
