Hard to choose an entire genre. For instance, I’m not at all a big fan of rap, but there are a couple songs that I really enjoy. The only one I’ve yet to find a single song I like is dubstep. Is that even a genre? 🤔
I don’t know why so many people don’t like country. I mean, it’s not all great (especially with the new stuff... bleh) but some of the older songs are quite lovely!
• There are some okay dubstep songs in Cadence of Hyrule. In CoH you can choose between 3-4 different songs for each area, and I—much to my own surprise—chose the dubstep version for a few areas. Namely, Death Mountain. Death Mountain was usually the last dungeon I visited, and my usual gripes with the genre aside, it was really great at ramping up tensions, as I made my way to the Temple of Storms at its peak. On a whole, though, I definitely agree; dubstep is pretty awful. :p

  • Huh, is there a way to look it up on YT or something? I wouldn’t mind seeing if there is a piece of dubstep or two that strikes my fancy!

Here you go. It’s still not super great, but it does really set the stage, climbing up this storming mountain to the peak. I nabbed the other songs I have set to A_Rival while I was at it. They’re the dubstep artist, so presumably all these songs are considered dubstep. A lot of them are the ones that sound less-dubstep-ish, though. Frozen Grotto—a frozen ice dungeon. Cave—they’re surprisingly good at quieter soundtracks. Temple of Storms—this is the dungeon found at the peak of Death Mountain. Much like Death Mountain itself, it helped the area feel intense & climactic, and it also felt fitting for it to have a similar feel to the mountain that lead to it.

  • No problem. They aren’t anything I’d listen to on my own time, but they are nice in game.

It is a genre, and theres a lot of hidden gems that you have to sift through trash to get to, much like most genres.
