Nah. No need to remind me.
I’m reminded of Skyrim every time it’s re-released on whatever new game console/platform comes out.
Todd Howard is a mad genius for getting thousands or millions to buy and re-buy the same product over and over again lol

Even if they're similar, they still independant games. I'd say Skyrim gets the same treatment as GTA 5. Both games are mediocre with diehard fans (so it's easy to throw shade), and both publishers are releasing literally the exact same game multiple times.

I don't see nearly as many memes and complaints over GTA as I do for Skyrim. I'm sure sports fans can tell the differences between releases, but I'm not seeing it. I lump Call of Duty in with Pokemon, same game with maybe a couple of new gimmicks that could've just been an update. And Ubisoft games are all the same formula with a different skin : Climb tower to unlock map, clear enemy base, loot cave, hunt animal, upgrade stuff. Sometimes you have a gun and other times you have a bow. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Skyrim, but the hate train for it is ridiculous. There are a lot of things to dislike about Skyrim and Bethesda, but making the game available on multiple platforms is a strange point to plant your flag. Imagine if Smash was released on every gaming platform, would people start mocking that too or praising it?

No. Rereleasing it on future consoles at full price like Skyrim? Yeah, probably. Any game still charging launch price 5+ years on would get mocked. But again, Skyrim is a unique case in that it's the same game releasing multiple times. Not a game with minor updates or in a new setting, [i]literally the same game.[/i]

lol bethesda makes exactly $0 from the independent mod community as far as I know I stick to PC when playing skyrim, so I can’t really argue on behalf of the console releases. I don’t know if VR capability was a Bethesda endeavor or solely the mod community. Either way, VR, PC, Console... the mod community puts Bethesda to shame. Yes, bethesda has their own mod store, but it’s dismal at best. Meanwhile, the mod community releases everything for free (though they take donations and sponsors) and they range from UI’s, customizability, higher quality effects and graphics, and patches to professionally fully-voiced characters, entirely new spaces and buildings and towns and even add-ons and expansions that dwarf Bethesda’s own expansions of Skyrim. Some of the expansions are so professionally produced that they have their own OSTs that, I’d argue, are in league with Jeremy Soule’s work.
