I gotta disagree with Aifos here. I am actually really curious to see an integration of open world concepts into a Pokemon entry. A lot of the enjoyment of Pokemon comes from the collection aspect, when you get that perfectly natured Gible for example, you just feel so good! Building that team and being able to travel around with them is always a pleasure. Out of all of Nintendo's franchises to get Open World games, Pokemon seems to be one of the most fitting, at least for me.
I gotta disagree with Aifos here. I am actually really curious to see an integration of open world concepts into a Pokemon entry.
I think you missed my point. I don’t have any issue with Legends; if they want to make an open world spinoff series, that’s fine. I just don’t want the eventual Gen IX entry to also be open world. Let the open world junkies have their open world Legends games, just let us linear fans keep our games, too, in the form of the main series.

Im just hoping it’s like BoTW in the way that the main story is even in the background. The main thing is to explore and catch Pokémon. Then again, it apparently takes place before gyms were a thing, so I don’t know what the main story could be besides catching Pokémon.

"Yeah go Charmander and Piplup! Stop the evil team Pidgey from pecking that innocent Pikachu!" "What?!" "Piplup has a tummy ache?" "I never should have fed him all those Oran berries!" "CURSE MY COMPASSION YOU STUPID PENGUIN!" Like that?
