Best and worst decade for music?
Personally I think that the 80s has the best music and the 70s with a very close second. Worst I would definitely say 2010s I like almost nothing from there except metal bands and the occasional EDM producer.

13 RepliesI feel like the current scene of "indie rap" is just the worst. Sure the teen star age of Justin Bieber and clones was kinda trash when they all were the same, but currently there's so many "rappers" copying eachother that you could give me a 10 hour playlist of different artists and they would be indistiquishable. Even worse when the lyrics are just corny and one dimensional trash or just bad mumbling attempts.

17 RepliesBest - 2010s. The rise of the internet has allowed experimentation and creativity to broadcast itself across the world. Genre barely exists anymore. There are no longer any boundaries in terms of who can create music, how they can present it, and what they can write music about. Not to mention how easy it now is to access the music of decades past. This is the best decade for music - and the best decade to listen to older music. Worst - 1960s. Important? Sure. But by today's standards it's pretty basic and bland, and were it to release today we'd instantly forget about basically all of it. I don't consider influence and quality to be interchangeable.

I personally didn't enjoy much out of the 2010's, particularly the latter part of the decade, but every bad decade has it's silver lining.

Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Pitbull, all these people were blowing up on youtube before youtube was even that popular. With music production software/hardware also blowing up during this time, there was so much opportunity for really innovative, catchy shit. The worst? Probably the 80s or late 2010s. There's something so cringey about the culture from back then. Probably the mullets or something idk. Speaking of cringey, don't even get me started on mumble rap. I think people forget that just because something sounds interesting or different doesn't necessarily mean it's good. That especially goes for mumble rap and recently released deep house.

Anything before 2004 is trash. This is still currently the best decades for music.

8 RepliesSome of my favorite stuff came out last decade. I hate the 80s entirely because of all the bitter old boomers and pretentious wrong generation brats who prop that decade up on a pedestal, shit on anything new, and think that counts as a personality to define themselves around.

That said, there is still good music from every era. The main issue is once a new format is present, it can either make that era better, or it can make it remembered as atrocious. It all depends on if it was the era you grew up in. I still find it to be more genre related than era.

2010s has great music cinematically or instrumentally speaking. And then, personally, Imagine Dragons, Valley of Wolves, MercyMe, Cinematic Pop, UNSECRET, (and others I've forgotten) all released a few winners here and there. And then, I just heard [b]This Mountain[/b]- Faouzia which was 2018, so that just [i]barely[/i] squeezed into the 2010s. Least favorite era is the majority of the 70s, but only because I heard a lot of 'em TOO many times. However, I do like the cover songs of that era from the 2010s. [spoiler]Ninja Archer[/spoiler]

Nothing wrong with a bit of Duran Duran or Iron Maiden every now and again, but eh. The hype there is these days around that decade is far too much imo.
