You're dreaming of D1's VoG, the D2's VoG you'll play would be not the same, sure it will match the textures and themes of the D1 version but won't feature its magic.
Phantasy Lord Luke Smithers already admitted in an enterview(or was it a reveal stream idk) he was thinking back then of how enjoyable your D2's VoG experience will be with Champion Pretorians and other sweeties his mind was mentally PP training on 😊
All there is now are D1's VoG memories of those raid runs we had ✨

Imagine how fun will it be when you;re facing Atheon, enter a portal and see 3 Barrier Hobgoblins on one and an Unstoppable Praetorian on another... Not to mention the Unstoppable Praetorians that'll be spawning during the "Oracles Phase" before templar...
-
And inside venus or mars you now have overloaded hydras... Triple the fire rate of Atheon when reached fury and a full circular shield as if is a titan bubble you can only disrupt him from inside.

Luke was the Lead Designer for original VOG. https://kotaku.com/q-a-the-lead-designer-of-destinys-vault-of-glass-1647227058 I know it's easy to go "hurr durr Luke Smith bad" but damn bro. Use your brain. God forbid that you maybe have a slight challenge when fighting some Pretorians. Without Day 1 modifiers basically all champions get butt -blam!-ed by swords or any other forms of DPS.
-
And he also named VoG guns as revealed during a charity stream, none of those changes the fact that he's changing D2's VoG to meet his Scarab Beard Lord Phantasy Land.

Yeah, yeah... We all saw that you like to defend Puke Smith... Just a reminder: He ALSO was the game director of Taken King. One of the best DLCs that D1 received. (https://destiny.fandom.com/wiki/Luke_Smith) He's also the director of D2. And people aren't very happy with the results. Point and case? Things and people change. The person that delivered an amazing game can deliver trash. Want another example? Keiji Inafune. "Father" of Megaman, delivered a MASSIVE turd called "Mighty Number 9"... Posting everywere about glories of his past doesn't change the fact that we have 3+ years of D2 and, besides Forsaken, the game has been lacking in quality.

I'm not defending him on recent decisions. I'm pointing out the fact that he literally said there would barely be any changes to VOG at all. As it's easier for them to just bring it as is, and they don't want to change the experience. So even though people just looovvveee to -blam!- about Luke Smith. This isn't something to -blam!- about.

One can only hope. If they really bring back VoG exactly the way it was (besides graphical improvements, of course), that's a point for them for allowing people who never played D1 to experience said raid. Then again... It's not like Bungie never broke a promisse. So it's really hard to believe anything that isn't live.
