Weekly challenges are a bandaid to the bigger problem.
I like the idea of these weekly challenges (although they seem a little to similar to other battle Royales) but they are just chores to do on top of playlists that have little reason to play. Strikes, crucible and gambit all have a variety of issues that need to be addressed, such as: strike playlist being boring and repetitive with little to go for, crucible being an ability fest with less content than the year prior, and gambit literally having NOTHING to grind for. But it seems like the addition of these challenges that forces the player into the activities have pushed the obvious issues with these activities to the side.
We need a blanket change to these playlists because they feel uninspired, boring and repetitive especially with the strike playlist being the same for LITERALLY 4 YEARS, Crucible losing content on beyond light release and gaining 0 and gambit literally just being ignored for 7 seasons in a row. We need innovation, not bandaids.
