This is bungies philosophy. They introduced statsis specifically to SELL beyond light. This was their plan ALL along. They’ve made millions on this alone, knowing they put very little work in game. They can continue to do this a still rack up millions. They don’t have to try because they already have MORE then enough people buying the expansions. They force an artificial meta each season to force players to change load outs to compete. This seasons meta was made ON PURPOSE. They’re not risking losing money by gutting stasis. It’s the ONLY selling point for beyond light.

This has not happened yet, since many of the potential candidates have failed, badly, thus far. Once there is a game that scares Bungie, the content and quality of the development by Bungie will increase dramatically. Unfortunately, between various screw ups by other developers, covid, etc. A real threat to D2 has yet to materialize. But one can always hope.

Wait, I do think that the meta is artificial but they should also try to avoid power creep, witch is a benefit of sunsetting. I think that they should create weapon decisions each season for legendarys, kinda like how the DSC legendarys have a special perk so like weapons that come from crucible could have a perk that makes it so when aiming down sights, your weapons aim assist go’s to the max making it great for pvp, but also making it so that they can farm for other weapons that have other perks that could be great for pvp, or make a pve weapon series that spawns warming cells after rapid precision kills, this is just an idea that I had, and they could sun set these weapons every 2 seasons that way we have something to grind that is good but also don’t force a meta, just an idea though and may not be the best, just something to help with sunsetting and not making reskins
