Weapons have an active role in the gameplay, they are actually much more important.

Oh yeah they're more important. I'm just saying bungie has addressed how they intend to make guns work with sunsetting (whether or not they do it is a different story), but it seems like they haven't yet even acknowledged the problems sunsetting created for armor.
