The question you should ask yourself is what would you do if you were at Bungie? A) invest knowing that even in the best case scenario you will not increase revenues. B) cut costs knowing that even in the worst scenario you will not decrease revenues.

  • Adding a game mechanic like this isn't a huge investment if it saves their player base or renews trust. They already have a review process in place to assess cheating, just not evidence based. If anything, something like this would streamline the effort.

  • I agree but bungie sees it differently. Bungie put years into developing a game and finally realized that the goals were too lofty and couldn’t be achieved, so they parted company with some very talented people and decided that they would have to milk destiny for every penny they could get. That’s why you will never have dedicated servers, a dedicated, full development team or anything else that would cost money. It is also why the game is designed the way it is, old recycled items and artificial grind. Free to play because fresh players might spring for silver more readily.
