Can you imagine how awesome it would be to experience this kind of detail and nuance ourselves, in the game?
Can you imagine? That would just... wow. That would be great.
Yeah.
...
Sigh.

Well that's the thing When you read something your imagination fills the gaps. Your brain is doing all the work and will always come up with something greater than reality

Edited by Corrick II: 1/24/2021 1:56:39 AMThat’s fine. And I totally agree. Which also means I might as well stop playing Destiny altogether and just read lore books. Because they are far more interesting than the game itself.
-
I mean honestly? I've considered the same
-
Genuine question... how would you go about adding detailed literarature such as this into the actual game itself, which is mostly about shooting guns and collecting stuff? These lore pages are 'in the game' too. Under the lore tab.
-
Well, I’d start by having a little more faith in the developers ability to create compelling, playable in game experiences instead of just saying “oh well I guess that’s just not possible” and choosing to be happy with some text. “Lore pages are in game too”, come on are you seriously ok with that? That really does it for you? You might have given up on them but I still believe Destiny can be better.

I don't think there should be any assumption about where I stand on Destiny, my question was purely how you would work the kind of narrative we see in the lore pages into actual playable content. I appreciate lore in games I have an interest in, so yes, having additional stories, history and scenarios away from our characters that further bolster and flesh out a universe 'does it for me' I guess, if you wish to call it that. A lot of franchises have additional literature. I'll use Star Wars as an example, a lot of what goes on in a galaxy far, far away is not on our screens at all but instead is tucked away in graphic novels and books. Lore in Destiny is the same thing... It serves to create a universe around the comparitively small area we actually play in. Are you not a fan of the scenarios and stories that we have played through?

Edited by Chucky: 1/23/2021 10:57:35 AMThe way I would do it is this; After running the same strike 20 times give an option to replace the dialogue with a lore card being read to you, hell they could even let you choose which card or topic. Edit: Also they don’t need to pay an AAAA voice actor thousands to do it, pick up an amateur

This isn't a good idea. Just listen to the dialogue of Savathun's Song. Taeko-3 has some of the worst in game dialogue ever.

So replace it with a lore readout?
