Hi.
Someone who has played every halo since combat evolved and still owns every original copy.
Halo 2s story was subpar.
Halo Reach crapper on the story already set...
Ok.
What in the Holy crap.
Halo 2 is arguably one of the best halo campaigns to have ever been created.
Halo Reach didn't shit on the already established story, it actually added to the story and flushed out halo CEs story by being the prequel to that story and finding out why the pillar of autumn was running in the first place.
I have one very simple question.

Like perversewolf said, the reach story already existed. Then bungie said "now, here's the new story". The game itself was great, and was a decent campaign, but it crapped on the story already in place. Halo 2 campaign being good or bad is subjective. I hated playing as the arbiter. Thats all

That's the thing, those books may not have been set in cannon yet. I'll give you a example that youll understand, star wars legends was originally cannon but was changed into legends and de canonised. The same happened to those old books, they were changed to be non cannon. They do it all the time and have done it a lot. So I hope you understand what I meant by changed the story to fit better. Now... As for that halo 2 comment. Playing as the arbiter for me is 50/50. I love it as it was something different and allowed us to experience what the covenant was like. I hate it because the campaign missions were tedious at best and kinda annoying. But halo 2s story... Oh boy that was a good one, because we had the covenant accidentally discover earth AND invade (leading to the ODST spin off story). The prophet of regret screwed up and jumped the gun, causing Amanda keys, cheif, sgt.Johnson ect to chase after them and punch regret to death. Eventually we got the covenant civil war... And the story implications there were both dire and awesome. This is the thing, it's all opinion based. You like X and hate Y. I might hate X but love Y. To each is their own.

Are you mad?![/quote] Except the first three Halo books from the 2000's actually already flushed out what happened from the start of the Spartan program up to how Chief and Sarge made it home in time to stop the covenant fleet that were arriving at the Unyielding Hierophant to resupply before attacking Cairo station and earth in the events of Halo 2. The Reach game had retconned alot of it unnecessarily.

Yup 👍🏽 always enjoyed halo while Bungie worked on them after Microsoft took it I was done.
