Armor sunsetting
I think armor sunsetting should not be a thing, I've been grinding for that raid armor to get the stats i want not nearly done but just thinking it will get sunset just made me quit done with destiny until they change it if not well bye forever I dont have the time to loose what i learned and like how it looks to get sunset in a couple of seasons

Armor Sunset highlighted like nothing else the spurious reasons given to justify the Sunsetting hamsterwheel. That said there is no decent reasoning for some special exceptions for armor. The whole idea of regular, planned early obsolescence itself is fundamentally flawed, utterly incompatible with the ecosystem of Destiny 2 loot. That has to go. The blinkers are seemingly surgically attached though.

Since we are probably stuck with sunsetting, sunsetting armor and weapons needs to be extended to an extra six months to a year before they are sunset.

I have just come back after not playing Destiny 2 for 18 months. Maybe that was a mistake??? I agree with the comments if you spend weeks, hell even months grinding for that perfect roll. You should be allowed to keep that armour. I remember from day one of Destiny. Bungie said we could develop our Guardians over the years of the game's evolution. That was BS of course. But I wanted to keep certain armour and upgrade it over the years and use that armour in the present. F**k that was just a fantasy.

Weapons are one thing but armor sunsetting is a necessity with how the mod system works now, especially transmog coming. As it stands now, armor is a blank slate that can be easily and cheaply modded to our desired build. We don’t need to farm for beneficial/ optimal perk rolls or, with ornaments and transmog on the way, our desired aesthetic appearance. Without sunsetting nobody would ever need to hunt for armor sets again. Admittedly, sunsetting discourages players from pursuing or investing in masterworking their armor, and that’s an issue that needs to be addressed. But sunsetting armor is an acceptable price to pay for the ease of modding and aesthetic customisation it has now.

8 RepliesI've been following the trend here. And for the first time Kelly Green is right. Bungie will not revert or reverse their stance on this. Bungie made their bed and they are sleeping on it. I don't like what they did to this game. But no matter how loud we shout, they will not change. Kelly Green is correct. We should leave. Quit the game. If you can't, then stay. But if you can quit, then quit the game. They will not change. You can shout. Or you can shout and quit. If not, then keep playing. But you'll be disappointed. I chose to quit.

Sunsetting armor may be the dumbest move I've seen in the Destiny franchise history. Horrid decision. Makes me lose faith in whose in those meetings.

If so, then all the time people spent grinding armor rolls until then, including lost sector farming, could just be a big waste of time.

I agree that it should not be in the game but my team of epic gamers say that Taniks has no House. He kneels before no banner, owes allegiance to no Kell. He is a murderer, and very good at what he does. I have been tracking him since Wolves broke their chains, yes? Now Taniks works for Wolf Pack, but not for long

2 Replies1. A year is a long time. 4 content drops to be exact. 2. If you think your stat allocation has to be so perfect for you to succeed, i got new for you. It really doesn’t. Bungie is taking steps to de-incentivize grinding your face off for the absolute perfect stat allocation, because the average player doesn’t do that, and the average player is their target. If you hardcore farm stats, you’re a minority.
