The problem with Trials right now is that Bungie has done a HORRIBLE job of tending to the flock. What I mean is, there is very little incentive for even a group of above average crucible players to partake in trials. For instance, my group and I tried over the weekend and had to sweat our balls off just to get to five wins. What was our reward? - Basically nothing. No pinnacle drop, no weapon I plan on ever using, no armor piece I'll ever actually use. As such, there's a good chance that an above average group like me doesn't even try next week. What you're left with is ONLY the super sweaty try hards. Making it even more difficult and less enjoyable to play trials. In order to revive trials to be more accessible and fun for the general population, Bungie needs to: -Revert matchmaking to the original Trials matchmaking in D1. e.g. you are randomly matchmade, regardless of the amount of wins on your ticket (I actually don't know for sure if this is still the way they are doing it) -Provide at least one bounty that is grind-able for Pinnacle drops. e.g. 100 precision kills by your fireteam rewards a pinnacle drop. -Provide pinnacle drops at 3 and 5 wins -Change the flawless requirement altogether. If you get to 7 wins, regardless if you have a loss, you get the "flawless" drop. Keep the flawless requirement for the title only. My group and I regularly went flawless in D1. We really don't even try in D2. I feel like we are representative of a huge amount of players out there. Bungie should be disappointed by that, and be doing something to correct it. Stop actively trying to make trials an exclusive sweat fest. Make trials fun again.

  • I agree, trials really just seems underwhelming. No real incentive to play the game mode. Making it worth playing is definitely the first thing they need to do.

  • I feel this. In D1, my actual buddies and I would go flawless every week. Maybe not on the first run but we'd get there Now, my only flawless was playing with two extremely good players (I'd say I'm above average) and even then it wasn't close to smooth sailing (insane god tier players and then all the hackers) I don't have a solution but what we have doesn't work.

  • You can look my stats up, I'm above average with a 1.4 kd and unless I play with gods I can't even go flawless. It's really ridiculous how good you have to be to consistently reach the lighthouse, it's a little to much for an adult with a full time job, mortgage, and three kids such as myself. I just don't have the time to really sit in front of a screen a dedicate my life to becoming the top 1 percent, because thats literally what it takes.

  • If you’re “above average” why do you need pinnacle drops for winning 3/5 games of crucible? Lmao

  • Well, I'm not at max light...soooo... I need pinnacle drops. You also missed the entire point of my post, but good reading comprehension. The pinnacle drops are to entice more people, who are not at light cap, to play trials in order to increase the player pool.

  • Also you missed the entire point of my post Mr. Reading Comprehension. My point being that if you’re “above average” you shouldn’t need pinnacles still, and if you do, you shouldn’t need 2 extra pinnacles a week, or else, what’s the point of the pinnacle system so you can just reach cap week 1??

  • Wow, you are so bad at reading it's embarrassing. The pinnacle drops ARE NOT FOR ME! They are to entice other players to play trials to increase the player pool. How is it you are so bad at reading?

  • You don’t see how absurd it is for top tier pvp players to get 3 pinnacles for 7 games of crucible? Lmao

  • Again, you're missing the point. Top tier pvp players are probably already at max light, so they are getting max light drops no matter what. You're also catering the game to the top 1% of players if you are only designing trials based on "it's silly to get three pinnacle drops in 7 games of crucible". For most players, my group for example, it took us 15 games just to get a ticket with 5 wins on it. You're also exaggerating the ridiculousness of my proposal. 3 pinnacle drops in 7 games is not at all ridiculous. I get 3 pinnacle drops in 9 crucible games every single week from getting the crucible drop on all 3 characters (and I don't have to win).

  • Which means you’d get 9 pinnacles from a single activity. Trials is for top tier players.

  • Its really for everyone, but the system allows the top 1 percent to carry, account recover, and baby sit the playlist all weekend so its really not that fun for above average, average, or bad players. I have a 1.4 kd. I'm not a God statistics show that I'm above average. If I'm not having fun trust me, there's a large percentage of people that aren't having fun as well. Bungie has to figure out a way to increase the player base, or skill creep will eventually dominate the pkaylist and this is only the first week bro.

  • It’s a skill based game mode. It shouldn’t get easier. Not everyone should be able to do well in trials.

  • Jeez, we finally get to the bottom of the conversation. Why did it take you so long to actually make your primary point? Not only is your reading comprehension bad, but your writing skills are abysmal. You have a fundamentally different view of trials than most players. You believe trials should be exclusively for top tier players to enjoy. I do not believe that. I believe everyone should have a chance to enjoy trials.
