Because the gear from The Dreaming City is from Year 2 of the game. The gear from The Moon is from Year 3.
So while one can argue that the loot pools should have been refreshed (once a century pandemic, working from home), the gear was[b] appropriately[/b] sunset.
No other loot game would still let you take gear from TWO expansions in the past, and then LEVEL IT UP to be relevant for current content. That is GAME-BREAKING, and Bungie finally was forced to admit that it was, and stop allowing us to do it.

You aren’t correct. You have stated 0 facts. It is your opinion that sunsetting is good, as it is mine and many others that it isn’t. Collectively the masses are correct when it comes to things like this. The majority of consumers will get what they want in the long run, or they will simply consume something else.

Got that bbackwards. That's a good description of your position. The unavoidable fact in all of this is that EVERY loot game employs Sunsetting. Destiny (and to a leser extent The Division) are the only outliers. And both of those games have had massive problems with power creep and loot incentive. While Diablo 3 has trucked allong for years without problems.

My only problem is that those DLC are still paid DLC, and as such you're ultimately paying for gear that you cannot use. If they were free (which at least Shadowkeep should be at this point if you ask me) then it wouldn't be a problem at all.

I already got my money's worth when they first came out so it doesn't really affect me as it would newer players.

With that logic all of the ikelos weapons should be sunset. They brought those forward and Mars doesn’t even exist. If you can earn it in game it should be allowed to me maxed leveled.

Which makes it 12 months after they were brought into the game (as random rolled guns) The weapons that dropped with Shadow keep were similarly sunset at 12 months. That is why Bungie did it this way, so that people would ahve a CONSISTENT method of predicting how long gear will be end-game relevant.

100% Agree. And frankly, most of that loot (for me) was never used, except on a lark or for giggles. Who was using DC loot last year even? Not I.

None of the veteran players in PVE. ...and most PVP players just used that kind of content as loot farms to get gear for Crucible after Bungie sandbox changes. The game cant drag years worth of guns behind it just on the OFF chance that something might become Crucible meta after a sandbox update. This game would have had SIX YEARS worth of guns that would have to be quality-tested every time Bungie changed the sandbox or added content to the game if Bungie HADN"T done this. My frustration is that this community is so self-absorbed and so entitled that they just REFUSE to see how unworkable this becomes over time. ...and was making the game more and more unplayable on console over time.

Spot on. It becomes not only unmanageable for Bungie, but US as players - I honestly don't understand the mass confusion. This had to be done, I'm glad it was done, and am no less a "space god" because I can't use a MT or whatever. The game is evolving, and the players *should* appreciate the effort. I can't imagine the QA / sandbox hell they were in, or are still in, as it's not done or perfect. But it is a start. Yep the PvP part did (and still I wager, in non endgame) complicates things. It was becoming a mess, and at least can see some good. Loving the new loot / rolls. ADAPTING. Having fun. Yes, as someone else said, just RIP Goldtusk. But there's other toys to play with and be a space baddie squisher.

[/b] The people who identify with their CHARACTERS/Guardians.....are adjusting to the change. The people who identify with their GEAR...and their Guaridan is just a doll to hang the gear on (shooter mentality) ....and mad and are fighting against the change. Because it demands that they look at the game and their place in it in a fundamentally different way. ...and I think that is a transition that some them won't be able to make. And that some of them don't WANT to make.

We can see in the forums, reddit and even streamers that say they are pvp focused and don't even pay attention to story, they doesn't even now who is Colonel, or that Glint has a bomb or that there is lore in some weapons, because they have a traditional-fps mentality that only pew pew (and they are good at it). But hey MMOs arent gamplay mechanincs only, we have lores, missions and story progression. So if people don't pay attention to those things, the game is going to be more and more empty of content to those people, because the content the game has they don't enjoy, and the mode they do enjoy isnt the main focus.
