Here are my specs: https://pastebin.com/P3UTw6fs When editing this CVARS file line from 0 to 1 "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value=0 My performance drastically increases. My performance was already good usually running the entire game above 100fps excluding the newly problematic tangled shore. However, this causes almost all the lighting in the game to flicker. It's unplayable to run the game this way even though my fps skyrockets and feels silky smooth. If there's a way to enable this setting without the flickering, this game would run like a dream on my system. Edit: Another user in this thread recommended I switch to Radeon 20.2.2 display drivers and it pretty much fixed all my fps issues. Tangled shore is back to 100fps.

I tried this "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value=1 and it flickers yes, in the shadows and in all the areas where we get fps drop when we look in that direction. I also tried all shadow quality settings and the flickering happens in all qualities. That might explain why the fps drops even with all settings to low with lowest resolution and even rendering at 20% With the "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value=0, I have almost 120fps in good areas and cant get over ~65fps in the tower, and barely above 55fps in tangled shore. With the "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value=1, I get almost 300fps in good areas with almost no flicker, and below 75fps in problematic areas I mentionned that have a lot of flicker with this setting. Running a 5700XT as well on PCIe4.0, Rizen 9, 64GB 3200 ram, on Gigabyte Aorus Pro A550. I suspect a lighting and/or shadows related bug, be it in the game and/or in the drivers from ATI. Will try the 20.2.2 drivers now to see the results... Edit 1: The drivers 20.2.2 gives me a 10fps boost in tangle shore with smoother movements and no perceivable screen tearing, but it still is 10 fps under my 75Hz Vsync sweet spot. Little fps improvement in the tower, except when I look at the Traveler and the glowing Christmas tree, where it stays at the usual 65fps, but still more fluid camera movements. BUT now if I lower my settings I get fps improvements!!

  • There's most likely something going on with the lighting. I think I will submit this to Radeon and see if they can figure out why this specific driver works so well with Destiny. Just to make sure it's not on their end. Bungie updated this post saying they found an issue with the lighting so hopefully it gets fixed in the January Patch.

I'm having the same issues. Changed the CVARS and my FPS is fine, but now the flickering of the lighting is unbearable. I did a quick recording just going around a bit to show what's happening (mind the fat fingering... been on the Cyberpunk binge). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adaU631onzY This started after I swapped out my old 1080 for a 6800 XT. Same settings for all the rest of my hardware and all drivers are up to date. I've tried all sorts of settings and nothing has worked. I don't have any issues with any other games I've tested out - Edit - deleted the CVARS. It's definitely that "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value=0 which causes the light/dark flickering to epileptic seizure level. I'm either going to live with hitting ~30-65 fps on a rather high end system, or I'm just not going to be playing the game... at least until the fix is in place (either through Bungie or AMD). Sucks that this is when the damn holiday event is going on. That alone annoys me. My old 1080 was going in a build for my nephews as an xmas gift, but why would I need to downgrade my gpu?

  • Yep Bungie has known about this fix for over a month now and we are still sitting in the dark with no answerers.

  • Changing "low_latency_mode" to 0 in the Cvars file also helps. I was only getting 139fps in menus. When I change this it went back to monitor refresh rate 144hz. When you do both "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" value=0 and "low_latency_mode" to 0, the game is back to pre beyond light fps except with flickering. They should look into both of these. Thats where the fps bug is located.

  • I did some comparison on CPU usage and with mutl-threaded enabled I am getting better FPS and higher CPU utilization. It is also noticable that the CPU usage is more stable compare to zig-zag like graph when multi-thread is disabled. Sadly it will introduce flickering when enabled. I hope Bungie will implement this in the future correctly.

  • There are many other ryzen users who see the same results. Cyberpunk is currently running into a similar problem. They solved it by using Hex Editor. I'm assuming you can get banned for modifying the exe file using a third party program so I won't be trying that. Either way thanks for confirming my results.

  • My dude I was thinking the same about Cyberpunk last night looking for multi-thread support on games! I was like should I post about this on the forum and hope Bungie look into it or someone with knowledge about editing application with HEX Editor. But yea this might get us banned if modifying it.
