My heart is melting! 🥺 My cousins raise a [i]lot[/i] of chickens and other animals (it’s a veritable menagerie over there). Their chickens unfortunately suffer more casualties, it would seem, than the Germans at Verdun. Between all the predators we’ve got, redneck neighbors with pellet guns and a sick sense of humor, and other factors it seems they’re always holding little funerals for their feathered, furry, or fishy friends. My uncle succinctly summarizes the situation by shrugging and saying, “It’s a tough camp.” For our part we’ve avoided the casualties by sticking to easy critters like cats, dogs, and rabbits (which are simply adorable).
