I tested it while sitting in orbit and turns out I have 2 problems but before I go there some context is needed. I'm using a 1080p 144hz monitor and in the nvidia control panel I have G-Sync and V-Sync turned on. In all other games and in D2 prior to yesterday's patch, my fps would cap at 144 as expected. Now however it does cap at 144 but that is until I get past the "Press enter to play" screen. After that it caps at 139 for some reason. I tested other games and they cap at 144 as they should. Back to D2. I was sitting in orbit observing my framerate and I found out that while sitting at 139 it would drop down to 135 every few seconds for no reason at all and when that would happen it would feel like my monitor just flickered. It was very severe and noticeable, nothing like something that g-sync should have taken care of as usual. And also the framerate when walking around and doing stuff anywhere is very unstable. Specs: RTX 2070 Super AMD Ryzen 7 3800x Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3600MHz RAM Game installed on SSD Latest Windows 10 version, BIOS (latest stable version) and Drivers. Hey there, I believe your game is being capped at 139fps because of Nvidia Reflex being turned on by default. Regarding the stuttering, this sounds alot like the same issue im facing. The mouse/gamepad cursor stutters when the framerate drops right? It flickers? It does it for no reason, even when standing still on any planet, nothing going on, with a framerate cap in place, the framerate just drops randomly below the cap and that translates into a hitch, even with Gsync enabled. Have you tried capping your game at 72fps with Gsync on, do you still get random hitches? I get them all the way down to around 36fps, then they seem to stop below that. This issue happened the moment i updated destiny 2 to beyond light, minutes before the update it was fine, for months, but it has now been randomly hitching/stuttering since early November (since Beyond Light). Just like you, for me Gsync isn't working as it should in this game, if the framerate drops even -5fps the screen hitches. 100fps drop to 99fps or 95fps etc = hitch. I clean installed Windows 10 20h2 yesterday, not installing anything other than Steam, Nvidia driver and Gpu-z and and still have this issue (approx 5th reinstall now) We have similar specs : We are both using a Ryzen 3000 series cpu, we are both using a Nvidia Rtx 2000 series graphics card, and we are both using a 144hz Gsync monitor. I have tried : I ran the Nvidia pendulum Gsync demo to make sure Gsync is working ok, and its working fine. Disabling Nvidia reflect (via the cvars.xml), testing values 0, 1 and 2 Clean installing many different Nvidia drivers after using DDU Switched between all the different graphic options in the game Switched game resolution from 1440p to 1080p Lowering the polling rate of my mouse (although the issue happens when using an xbox gamepad too) Unplugging all usb devices and switching ports and changing the mouse/keyboard Deleted Nvidia shader cache Installed Destiny on a brand new ssd (2nd ssd i have tested) Updated realtek drivers (lan/sound) Switched sound card devices (stuttering happens with both realtek/nvidia audio outputs) Clean installed Windows 10 1909 and 2004 and back to 20h2. Changed the refresh rate from 144hz to 60hz, and capped the game at 60fps with gsync - still hitches Regardless of what I do, there always seems to be a frametime spike. And this update is responsible. It is not our rig causing it. From what I have seen so far many people with specs similar to ours, Ryzen cpu + Rtx graphics card, are having this random hitching causing stuttering problem. https://pastebin.com/yZaVAPRc Specs: Ryzen 3700x 2 x 8gb Vengeance 3200mhz ram, cas 16 (although i have tried different ram, crucial ballistix) Crucial mx500 ssd Msi b450 mortar max motherboard with latest bios : 7B89v2C2 (AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.1.0.0 Patch D) Nvidia 2080ti, driver 460.89 Windows 10 20h2 19042.685 (latest) Acer xb271hu 144hz Gsync monitor
