I'm not sure what you mean, most of the mods are Element-neutral since the release of Beyond Light.

  • All combat style mods have an elemental affinity. And these are usually mods you want to be using because they offer good benefits. But because they are tied to an element its effectively restricting your freedom of playstyle and flexibility. This is something Bungie themselves wanted to change for players and yet a year later and we're still here. Sure most other mods are element neutral but these are basic mods without much value except those that increase your stats. For example if i get a specific combat style mod that i want to use but don't have the armor for with the right element I'll be forced into a boring grind. Player freedom should be a big part of the game but these restrictions placed on mods only being good for a specific element or Champion mods only being good for specific weapons is basically restricting gameplay and its not enjoyable. When i load into the game and i feel like playing with a specific build i need to be able to change to this build on the fly. Not by switching armor pieces except exotics but simply by switching mods. That level of freedom would feel so incredible in a game such as Destiny. Especially with sunsetting being a thing having this freedom is even more important. We basically have to acknowledge that every piece of armor we own is going to be made useless at some point. So not having to grind a new piece of armor over and over and over would really go a long way into making Destiny better. From what I've seen Stasis seems to be a step in the right direction because it gives you the freedom to create a build suited for your needs. And we simply need more of that. But I'm just one voice and the fact that a post about the same thing of a year old with a thousand upvotes hasn't swayed Bungie means it probably won't happen ever which is a sad thing to accept.
