Listen if you are already getting 4k 120hz this would be pointless for you! For everyone else it would just be a nice option.

Since you can already do this yourself, Bungie isn’t going to make it automatic.

That isn't a reason for them to not do it. But I do understand that's probably the most likely outcome.

Ugh. I'm not trying to whine. I kind of imagine it's a situation where Bungie has already done the leg work of the feature and it would be relatively simple to implement on pc as well. Seeing as I like to get the best frame rate I can in pvp. I switch the resolution frequently. If there was an option for it to be automatic I would use it and I think other people would as well. It's not pointless if some people find it useful. Like I said before I was just trying to clear up misunderstandings in reply to the other people.
