How exactly is Bungie in control of this? This is a Sony decision.

They're not but they can tell us if can still use ps4 controllers on ps5 after this update or not

Again, they have NO control over that. It's not Bungie restricting it ... it's SONY and they have already stated that NO only DualSense controllers on PS5

Because Sony pushed a patch to use DS4 controllers ONLY on PS4 versions of the game. If you load the PS5 version of D2, you will not be able to use the DS4

You can use it on the PS4 version of the game not the PS5 period. Sony has clearly stated that but I'm not going to argue because you are probably playing on the PS4 version of the game (the one that was originally available) and not the PS5 version (which you had to select and download separately after 12/8)
