New armor sets will cost you 6k bright dust each, that means you wont be able to farm them from scratch with weeklies during the dawning cuz weeklies now give you less bright dust, so bungie makes sure that you will buy silver more likely than before.

  • The Season Pass gives you 7.8k MORE Bright Dust than previous seasons, so this is actually untrue. Please try again.

  • you think youre smart but you miss the BIG picture , now you are paying cash money for that bright dust , as its in the season pass. where as before you could be new light and still earn that bright dust. theyre getting your money either way, and you think theyre doing you a favor. im sure you think sunsetting and vaulting was really because the game was getting to big -- lolololol hint : its so they can sell it all back to you over the next 3 years try again

  • How many Weekly Bounties did you do last season? If you answer is below a certain number, you will earn more Bright Dust this season doing the same number of bounties, meaning more Bright Dust for the same amount of work. I'm not going to tell you what that number is yet, because if I do, you'll just find a way to artificially get to that number, then I'll have to look up your activity stats and prove you wrong, and that'll just be awkward.

  •
The Season Pass gives you 7.8k MORE Bright Dust than previous seasons, so this is actually untrue. Please try again.
True season pass gives more than before but they have reduced in game earnings of bright dust. Technically, you could earn more previously through bounties IF you did all of the bounties for bright dust. It's good chance for those who didn't bother doing specific bounties for bright dust but it's salp in the face for those who actually grinded for those.

  • Yes the season pass does give you a lump sum of bright dust but over the course of a season you are actually earning less per season than you were before

  • Let me ask you this, how many Weekly Bounties were you doing in a given season? A small portion of the community did all bounties on all characters every single week, but for the vast majority of players, they weren't doing enough Weekly Bounties for the old system to be better. Were you doing all bounties, every week, on all characters, 100% of the time?

  • Yeah in previous seasons yes at the minimum I'd do all the weekly bounties each week, i mostly play as my warlock but after I finished all the stuff on him I'd switch over to my titan and do some stuff and finally to the hunter where I spend the bare minimum amount of time because to be honest I just don't like playing as the hunter class. But on each character I'd do all 6 weeklies since at most doing those only took maybe an hour to do. But the change to only getting 100 per weekly i don't bother playing on my third class very much any more especially since I've completed the season pass and no longer need the exp given by weeklies.

  • https://destinytracker.com/destiny-2/profile/xbl/bbbhurricane/overview https://chrisfried.github.io/secret-scrublandeux/guardian/1/4611686018451476683 The thing I enjoy is that is it not hard to look up other player's activity, and what you are saying is straight up wrong. You did not do all 6 weeklies per week on each character. Let me break the numbers down for you. If you only did 39 Weekly Bounties per season before, you are getting the same Bright Dust this season by default. For the first 77 Weekly Bounties per season, the new system is giving you more bright dust. 78 Weekly Bounties is the breaking point. Based on what I'm seeing from random sampling of your gameplay, you primarily focused on Crucible and rarely did Strikes and Gambit on a weekly basis.

Okay I missed a few weeks were I didn't play all three characters your point being what? I like a lot of players took a break from the game. It still doesn't change the fact that with the current brightdust change you earn less over all even if you miss weekly bounties as compared to previous seasons as well as I was earning more bright dust those seasons compared to what I'm currently able to earn now. The 10.5 bright dust was matched by doing three weeks of weekly bounties on each character in past seasons, 3.6k per week on your account by doing weekly bounties 10.8k [edited spot] after three weeks. A season usually lasts 12 weeks, maybe its 13 either way the numbers won't vary by much, so theoretically if you solely did weekly bounties you'd earn 43.2k in a season not counting event or repeatable bounties or the brightdust found in the season pass. Now you are only able to earn 32.1k bright dust in a season and thats adding in the season pass brightdust, so overall it is a net loss of 11.1k brightdust a season you can earn. [Edit]: initial math was wrong changed 9.8k to 10.8k so after three weeks you actually were earning more than what the season pass right now gives.

  • Just to set the math straight, these are the potential numbers for a 13 week season. You have to exclude repeatable bounties because there was no change. No Weekly Bounties: Season 11: 2700 BD Season 12: 10500 BD 39 Weekly Bounties: Season 11: 10500 BD (same as Season 12 without bounties) Season 12: 14400 BD 78 Weekly Bounties: Season 11: 18300 BD Season 12: 18300 BD At this point you are getting the same amount Maximum amount of Weekly Bounties, 13 weeks, 6 bounties, 3 characters: 234 Weekly Bounties: Season 11: 49500 BD Season 12: 33900 BD So while yes, this did affect BD amounts from those who grinded bounties 100% of the time, this is the vast minority of players. Also, you cannot simply compare 10.8k from 3 weeks of bounties to that of the season pass. You have to compare apples to apples. The 10.8k BD obtained from 3 weeks of bounties before is equivalent to 5.4k BD now, so that's not enough to offset the BD gains. The tipping point is 78 Weekly Bounties over the course of a season. If you are not doing that many bounties, you get more BD in the new system. Another thing to note that I think isn't getting much attention, Bungie has said they are working to move away from the bounty system altogether, which means some future iteration of BD gains. This change was probably in part to decentivize bounty grinding as it is detrimental to the game overall. I suspect the change is going to change the Weekly Bounties to Weekly Challenges per account probably giving 400-500 BD each. While this will be even less BD overall for the hardcore grinders, it will essentially eliminate the bounty grind and give mostly guaranteed BD to all players.

  • Getting the 78 bounties done a season was easy to accomplish for anyone because you break that down to a person doing the 6 weekly bounties on one character each week and a vast majority of players play one more than a single character per account. The change to the brightdust system followed exactly as bungie said themselves, they changed it to benefit someone who only plays a single character so they could earn more. They failed to add in the fact that while the change was beneficial to those players it was a negative to players who played multiple characters. While you want to believe that bungie is changing the brightdust economy to allow a person to earn more than before you have to face the truth. These changes are not a benefit to the players its a benefit to bungie. If players are earning a net negative amount of brightdust compared to previous seasons that means more players are more likely to buy silver to purchase items. This has been bungies MO for any change to brightdust as well as d2 in general.

  • Or buy the season pass to get bright dust and grind it

  • You can only grind it to a point, once you get the 5k brightdust (you could make that in 2 weeks last season) you must resort the the 1k brightdust a week again
