Okay, but Merciless is constantly glitched.

rebadged, and reimagined.. but its been here for a loong time as merciless.. the same way sunshot is icebreaker, riskrunner as zhalo supercell, etc etc.

How is the sunshot icebreaker? Completely different just because they have firefly doesn't make them the same

in the same way crimson is not the red death... but, well, it is, i guess you had to be there at the time and watched them remove or substantially change what they saw as deficient...

Bro what are you saying. Crimson is the only 3 burst hc and has the exact same exotic perks as red death. How on Earth is Sunshot Ice Breaker? I cannot even begin to reason how you came to that conclusion.

Ok so in order to both nerf some stuff and transition the game from d1 and its playerbase (and keep things generally same same for consoles, and introduce the pc community to the franchise) they at the time had to make some adjustments... some were in name only, some were the transition of an idea, but if you played at the time and remember the nerfs also at that time, it all becomes very VERY aparent. Zhalo = Riskrunner, Merciless = Pocket infitinity, Dark drinker = Falling guillotine, Red death = Crimson, the list goes on (and on, i'm sure there is more), if you squint a little you can see that the new Cloudstrike is an easy use Zen meteor.. Specifically in the case of Icebreaker, it was becoming an issue with its ammo economy, becoming an increasing issue in the crucible as well as almost eclusive use in the VoG oracle event, its range and economy needed to change, so how do we give them the "xplodey feels" but take the range and economy away...turn it into a hand cannon, give it no ammo reserves, take away its ammo regeneration, nerf firefly and call it dragonfly, and name it... sunshot. Thats what i'm sayin... bruh.

So you're saying a gun that breaks ammo economy and a gun that has theoretically infinite trash clear are the same. Even Revoker is closer to Icebreaker.

And i'd have to agree, a gun that did break an ammo economy could indeed have a theoretical infinite trash clearing capability? i guess it would depend on how it broke it, if only we were discussing the same game and economies (regenerative ammo in a time of synths,vs a game without said economy, its almost like comparing an apple to a mustang, they are both things.. but thats it.) its about the d1 to d2 transition, and its morphology if you like. And what i said is how it played out at that time. The Revoker mistake and subsequent nerfology there came about much much later. If you strip down the sunshot, you'll find the icebreaker as it s "bones" so to speak. Its just how it went. People want to believe in sunshot as a uniquely designed and implimented idea of a gun that did cool new things.... if only they had not just had their icebreaker taken away a month prior in an earlier evolution of a game that the developer saw so many issues with, they had to evolve it... (the gun and the game as a whole)
